Wow. Think about this. If you don't have visual voicemail how on earth is your phone going to access and listen to your voicemail. Without vv you normally have to dial a number, go through a menu etc. With vv your phone downloads an audio file of the voicemail
WOW - Thank you!

All we need is ONE iPhone 6 user who's gotten voicemail transcriptions to dispel the conjecture about it being limited to the 6s/6s+...just ONE! If you're out there: please post!

Have a 6+ and 6s+ on AT&T both running iOS 10 beta 2 and even with voicemail reset, still no transcription yet

If its on device only, makes you why the carrier makes any difference at all, as long as you have visual voicemail.
I am really tired and saw this notification so I'm sorry if this sounds off...from my understanding it doesn't carry by carrier. It works like Siri.

Three doesn't even support Visual VoiceMail which is a necessary prerequisite for VoiceMail Transcripts. One of the reasons I switched to EE, (the other being wifiassist on phone calls).
A correction to the above for the record. I meant to say that the other reason for switching was that EE support Wi-Fi Calling (Three have their own clunky app which sort of does this). Wifi Assist is something different.

AT&T iphone 6s plus here. I did a password reset on VM and it didn't enable transcriptions. I reset network settings and BAM!, VM was now transcribed.

Attempted this on iPhone 6 (also on AT&T). Still no transcriptions. I can only conclude that this feature is iPhone 6s/6s+, at least for now. Why does this always happen on the features I could really use the most? :(

If it's on device then it need adequate processing power to transcribe messages without the cloud and not interfere at all with the phone function or battery life.

If true, it's the same tired argument as "raise to wake" only being on the S line. They simply cannot make every function work on the older devices (where hardware was not put in anticipating these features like the older motion co-processor) WHILE still maintaining the identical performance and battery life.

Can a jailbreak do it? Sure. It is going to eat your battery and device take a slight performance hit? Yup. Apple doing it native is a totally different story when they have 50,000 battery life complaints enabling it.

Nor does it make any business sense either from a practical view; after all Apple is not a charity here but a business trying to sell devices and make money.

I am definitely not unsympathetic to Apple's dilemma here. I'd rather they be consistent, though, and mark features as available only on certain model lines and newer though, rather than forcing us to find out after the tease at the keynote. Of course, this assumes that this feature is as you describe it. And it may just be that they're rolling it out a bit at a time each beta and we'll all eventually get it.

Apple still doesn't offer News in Canada and most countries. Yet they promote the crap outta that as such a big marquee feature. So it's nothing new that they talk big about something but limit availability.

I do feel your pain on this. Nothing worse than being teased a feature and not getting it. Always makes the missing feature seem so much more important that it likely really is. If I don't get this, my life will go on and I'll just have to listen to voicemails. But I got hooked on this by Google Voice and it would be nice to have!

Verizon iphone 6S Plus, did Network Settings reset, still no transcription, Carrier Settings version 24.5.34

I'm on Verizon with 6S and I've made no changes. VM I received today showed "transcription beta". The transcription was right on the mark. To view it I had to tap the phone number that left the VM and it drops down below the number. Older VM's do not show the transcription.

For those who have this working, I'm curious: how good is the transcription?

For a VM I receive today the transcription was right on the money. This was the first VM that has transcription.

Did the network reset on both 6+ and 6s+ on AT&T as well as the voicemail re-config, still no translations on either. Assuming this is rolling out slowly and am hopeful 6+ would still feature this
