I was watching YouTube and they said iOS 13 takes away 3D Touch? Basically the software disables 3D Touch? Is that true?

Will the X continue to have 3D Touch?

To be clear, these are the pop up menus. The peek/pop option of safari links (for example) are gone. So different menus with different pressures on the screen seems to be gone.

Right you get the same menus like before but 3D Touch doesn’t do anything special at least on my iPhone X. I see no difference between long press or hard press. Both open menus at the same speed.

3D Touch is gone. So incorrect. I know because I have been complaining about it for months now. See my other threads. It's just long presses now. There is NO 3D Touch anymore. Period.

Idk what phone you have, on the Xs Max the hardware exists still, they didn’t come take it out of the phones, and reacts quicker with a hard press than a long press does.

The software no longer reacts to the level of pressure and that’s a bummer.

Ok I think I’ll install the beta to make sure. This is a bummer. The difference is subtle but I do notice it.

I’m installing beta on my xs max. I really think they should keep 3D Touch working on the older phones. It would totally not be cool to disable it. I hope that’s not true.

Ok I have the beta now. 3D Touch feels a little different. When you press and hold your finger but only rest your finger it activates haptic touch. But if you really press in the screen with pressure the “pop” is much faster.

however front lock screen where the flashlight and camera is you need to press with pressure to activate the flashlight and camera. Resting your finger doesn’t activate the flashlight, which is something that I accidentally activated when I had the XR with haptic touch for a short period. All in all so far not a disaster.

Which is 3D Touch. Lol. Of course the hardware is there but what's the point if the software isn't there to support it? That's my whole point. It's nerfed. For all intents and purposes, removed. It does not work or come close to working like it was designed or did when it was released or advertised. Spin it however you want to make yourself feel better about being jiped but hate to break it to you, you were.

It still works, just that there’s also long press (or haptic touch) that is also there that for the most part does the same things. But the things that were there with 3D Touch are still there with 3D Touch.

No... you can invoke action menu on home screen or peek into items using long press or 3D touch, but 3D touch used to be able to pop things when pressed harder. That part of feature is gone and 3D touch provides no extra functionality now compared to long press.

Perhaps some aspects of it have been changed a bit in some places, but 3D Touch still exists and works. And it can still do some things that aren’t there with Haptic Touch, like using 3D Touch on a notification in Notification Center for example.

I can do that now on my iPad? I would rather still have 3D Touch but it doesn’t appear to be there now

Peek and Pop was one of the main features. It's not "some aspects of it have been changed a bit in some places", it's "functionality has been significantly nerfed in order to leave it on par with haptic touch".

I would imagine 3D Touch in games still work. Same with pressing hard on the keyboard for the trackpad. All other system wide interactions look and behave the same wether you 3D Touch or hold though. But the system still recognizes the difference.

Whilst 3D Touch is technically still there, I find it rendered useless.

I have become so accustomed to 3D Touch, that I’ve become lazy and rest my thumb on the screen. A light touch doesn’t trigger anything on previous IOSs, but in 13 it always now considers it a long press and I am now accidentally always triggering long press on links/pictures when scrolling.

It’s annoying, but I guess I’ll eventually get used to it.

This is so incorrect and it seems people are just spewing off what they read. There is still some 3D Touch specific functionality in iOS13. Namely cursor movement with the advanced 3D Touch text selection. If you've used it and gotten used to it you know what I mean.

An easy way to test is disable 3D Touch in Settings. Then try to use the keyboard cursor. Not even close to the same as the 3D Touch cursor. A simple but noticeable difference is you have to use the spacebar where you can use the entire keyboard with 3D Touch. Additionally, apps that had 3D Touch support specifically (i.e. Facebook and being able to 3D Touch a post/article and you get additional options) still work. Turn it off and it no longer does.

Even if that is seen as one of the main aspects of 3D Touch, it still doesn’t mean that 3D Touch is simply no longer there at all as was mentioned or at the very least implied in some comments. (Some would even argue that the ability to switch apps or invoke multitasking by using 3D Touch is one of its biggest aspects, and that’s still there in iOS 13, and doesn’t have a Haptic Touch equivalent).

I never said it wasn’t there, I said that it’s been significantly nerfed. There’s no valid reason for Apple to do this, in my opinion.
