It's objectively slower, but if you don't mind, it's ok.
It’s not that I don’t mind, it’s that things like the keyboard becoming a trackpad or using 3D Touch to go the previous app or to bring up the app switcher, or even bringing up a contextual menu using 3D Touch on an app icon, are working the same as in iOS 12. I even did it side by side using another iPhone 7 running iOS 12.4.1 for a better comparison to iOS 13.1 beta 3.

This is my experience too. On my Xs Max the 3D Touch, torch and camera shortcuts on the home screen work exactly as they did before too. 3D Touch is definitely still there.

If I long press on the letter “h” nothing happens. If I long press on the letter “i” I get a character select menu. If I 3D Touch on any letter, I get to move the insertion point. With Haptic Touch, I have to long press the space bar to move the insertion point.

In addition: if I invoke 3D Touch, and push hard again, I can select a word. If I move the insertion point then I can move the drag handles. However, if I begin by using Haptic Touch, I cannot select words by pushing on the display and I cannot select words at all or invoke the drag handles—for those features i must begin with 3D Touch.

So as far as keyboard mechanics go, 3D Touch is preserved.

FYI, you can hold space bar to move the cursor and then tap with a second finger to then select text.

I'm waiting for the class action lawsuit. People bought phones last year, with 3D Touch being touted as a feature. If it's removed after only a year, people will gripe. We have certainly seen lawsuits over less.

It's not removed, it's still there. Some aspects of it have been modified given that they are software based.

It‘s most definitely NOT slower. I use the feature constantly ever since they added it (literally every single time I compose a text, like this one, cause they keyboard sucks) and it works exactly the same it does on iOS 12. Same speed.

I never said it wasn’t there, I said that it’s been significantly nerfed. There’s no valid reason for Apple to do this, in my opinion.
One reason that Apple at least considered valid is to promote their fancy Haptic Touch and save a couple million on using less advanced screen. iPhone 11 Pro screen may become the most inferior screen among X, Xs and 11 series, given no Apple Pencil support and lost of 3D Touch functionality in exchange for maybe battery life.

BS. It's NOT 3D Touch. It's a LONG press. Trust me. It's not even close to what it was with 3D Touch. For the love of all things holy, please stop spreading those lies.
Go and pick a random iPhone 6s device running iOS 13 and try this out yourself, if you don't believe anything we are saying here. You behave like you are off the rails, my friend.

Apple cannot remove the force touch hardware on your screen unless they force you to recycle your iPhone 6s/7/8/X/Xs in exchange for iPhone 11 or 11 Pro, which will not happen. Software side, they have altered the behaviour of how iOS interacts with a pressure sensitive screen, that’s it.

I want to add a small feature that ONLY 3D Touch iPhone can do: dynamically change stroke thickness based on pressure in Apple Notes app, as well as third party note taking apps if they support it. Try to do it on iPhone 11 and see what happens. iPad can technically do that if you have Apple Pencil, but that is because of Apple Pencil, not because of iPad. Go figure. 3D Touch is not going anywhere, it’s the software interaction with the hardware changed.

Oh hush. Hardware is still there yes but the software was neutered. What’s the difference? Altered/removed? It’s no longer 3D Touch I purchased, used or fell in love with. Thank you.

Alright. If so, try to downgrade to iOS 12 while you still can. Only iOS 12.4.1 provides TRUE 3D Touch that you will love.

You are right on that, but I meant that there was no reason for Apple to nerf 3D Touch. They could simply add Haptic Touch for devices with no 3D Touch whilst maintaining 3D Touch functionality on the devices that have it, instead of replacing it with haptic touch even though they are capable of something better.

They don't want that older device have superior function in any way compared to new 2019 lineup. I hate that but most people doesn't care.

Exactly my thought. Give Haptic Touch to the 2019 iPhones, iPhone SE, Xr, iPod touch 7th gen, and all the iPads. While keeping 3D Touch on the other iPhones that are capable of 3D Touch and already feature that.

3D Touch is still in the XS in iOS 13.1. You can click hard anywhere on the keyboard to invoke the cursor mouse feature, whereas without 3D Touch, you have to click exactly on the space bar to get this feature working.

One of the iPhone 11 pro reviews discusses this. The reviewer states that he has to press on the spacebar to get the feature working without 3D Touch.

To be clear, these are the pop up menus. The peek/pop option of safari links (for example) are gone. So different menus with different pressures on the screen seems to be gone.
I run iOS 13 on my XS and I can definitely peek/pop on safari links.

I am running iOS PB4 on my XS Max.

You CAN peep an peek/pop links with either 3D touch or long press/haptic touch
You CAN 3D Touch or Long Press icons on your springboard to brign up the shortcut menus

3D Touch IS still active alongside Haptic - 3D touch is quicker but I am trying to use Haptic more so I transition to a new iPhone easier in future.

Anyone saying 3D touch has GONE on a X/XS/XS Max is WRONG.

you're wrong. The original 3D touch function of "light press to peek, hard press to pop in" is gone. You can't peek and pop anything in the new iOS, only open the preview with harder press.

I am literally sat here and can do the peek and pop as per iOS 12.... Maybe these people struggling with it should play about a bit more.

No you can't because it's not there. 3D Touch is now only recognizing two levels of pressure (yes and no) which is not 3D Touch anymore. You sure can do the "peek" part but "pop" is gone.

Fortunately, you can still active the cursor from anywhere on the keyboard if you phone supports 3D Touch. If you have haptic only, you have to "long press" the keyboard.

Seems like pressing lightly or pressing hard just gets the new context menu to show up and not the typical preview when pressed lightly and actually going to the link when pressed harder.
