I run iOS 13 on my XS and I can definitely peek/pop on safari links.
I am running iOS PB4 on my XS Max.

You CAN peep an peek/pop links with either 3D touch or long press/haptic touch
You CAN 3D Touch or Long Press icons on your springboard to brign up the shortcut menus

3D Touch IS still active alongside Haptic - 3D touch is quicker but I am trying to use Haptic more so I transition to a new iPhone easier in future.

Anyone saying 3D touch has GONE on a X/XS/XS Max is WRONG.
I am literally sat here and can do the peek and pop as per iOS 12.... Maybe these people struggling with it should play about a bit more.

As discussed above, it is not the same as before and is not a “peek“ with light pressure and a “pop” with more pressure. It’s either, activate the contextual menu with a long press or a hard press. Either way you get the type of screen attached. Pressing harder will not open the “peeked” link full screen, so there is no longer any “pop”action.

Yep it’s gone. All done with haptic feedback now. I think all the features are there (you can peek but not pop, at least not in once press) but it doesn’t feel the same as 3D Touch did. I miss it.
Confusingly third party apps that support 3D Touch still do. Do you can still use it properly in things like WhatsApp but in the main OS and Apple apps its not 3D Touch anymore.

It's not gone, it's still mostly there, but some aspects of it have changed to correspond with how Haptic Touch does things.

Alright. If so, try to downgrade to iOS 12 while you still can. Only iOS 12.4.1 provides TRUE 3D Touch that you will love.
That’s exactly why I won’t update to iOS 13.. First time I won’t be updating immediately when a newer version of iOS has dropped. 12.4.1 works wonderfully for me but certain changes would be nice included in iOS 13. I guess I can join those who don’t feel it necessary to update to the newest iOS release..

I can’t find places where 3D Touch works outside of third party apps. It’s all haptic touch.

Pretty much the same places it used to work before. For example, you can 3D Touch on an app icon for example to bring up the context menu. You can 3D Touch a notification. You can 3D Touch anywhere on the keyboard to bring up the trackpad functionality. On devices that have a home button, you can 3D Touch on the left edge of the screen to go the last app or bring up the app switcher.

I should've read this before hitting update  well i'll play with it for a little while then go back to 12.4.1 I'm absolutely sticking with 3D touch for now.

Whilst 3D Touch is technically still there, I find it rendered useless.

I have become so accustomed to 3D Touch, that I’ve become lazy and rest my thumb on the screen. A light touch doesn’t trigger anything on previous IOSs, but in 13 it always now considers it a long press and I am now accidentally always triggering long press on links/pictures when scrolling.

It’s annoying, but I guess I’ll eventually get used to it.
Just upgraded and this was my feeling as well.

Kind of upsetting. that long presses now just do the same thing as 3d touch. wish apple would have disabled it for devices that still have 3d touch but i guess they don't care. always focused on their latest models. I guess we're just supposed to turn 3d touch off now?

There are still things 3D Touch can do that Haptic Touch can't, and even for those that are the same, 3D Touch can get to them a little faster.

It looks like other than peek and pop in native apps it's pretty much the same in practical use.

Those features still work but it’s clearly using haptic feedback and not 3D Touch anymore. There’s no pressure sensitivity.

Many of those things don’t work with just a long press (Haptic Touch), you actually have to press down with some force (3D Touch) to use them.

Some of the others that also support Haptic Touch could still be invoked a little quicker with a harder press vs. a tap and hold. 3D Touch is still there.

It is 100% working on haptic touch. You can test this by touching the screen only very lightly and you’ll see all those features now work even with no pressure added. That is because it is now using the software and haptic feedback to emulate what the 3D Touch hardware once did. That is why only the peek part of peek and pop works now, if the pressure sensitive hardware was active then the pop aspect would work.
I am impressed at how well it’s emulated with the software and haptic feedback, it’s done so well I think that’s why you and others are convinced it’s still using 3D Touch.

Except that’s not the case for a variety of 3D Touch features I brought up. For example, you can tap and hold on random letter keys on the keyboard and no matter how long you hold you won’t get the trackpad feature unless you actually press down and use 3D Touch. Same goes for notifications where just tapping and holding won’t bring up options that you would get if you pressed down and used 3D Touch. Or tapping and holding on the left side of the screen to bring up the app switcher (on devices with home buttons), which won’t work unless you actually press down and use 3D Touch.

Well... I am not convinced as such. Lol! I upgraded to the 11 Pro. 3D Touch was the only thing stopping me but it can’t stop me if it doesn’t even exist anymore. 3D Touch is still somewhat present only in a couple areas. Other than that, it’s Haptic Touch. Plain and simple. So might as well adapt to it, unfortunately.

On new devices it’s not there anymore. On older ones that used to support it it’s still there in pretty much the same places, although in some of them the functionality has been modified to one degree or another.
