Actually, my post back in the day was not off, plans were changed with the iBook because of the Intel deal going through. There was a new revision planned for the iBook with a PPC CPU but instead a minor speed bump went ahead. Let's just say my older post is pretty much on the mark with some extras, but of course now with Intel inside.

Many of us in the industry have jobs that put newer hardware in our hands, do not pretend there is an apple secret service army guarding the prototype of hardware behind a blast proof vault guarded by ED-209 :)

There are a few great things coming on Tuesday, I think pretty much everyone will be pleased, but of course I cannot "absolutely guarentee" everyone will fall over because of them, but it's all good from my perspective!

On a side note if I were here merely for attention then I would think I would post on a daily basis seeking all the attention I can get, yet I do not. I just wanted to get everyone excited about what's to come is all. I'm going to leave it at that, I am not going to come right out and say what is planned for tuesday, that would land my in a bit of trouble. But generating excitement on one of the most popular Mac sites is harmless. I am excited, you will be excited to spend your money come Tuesday, and all will be right for this quarter and the next for Apple.

Cheers.

Is there anything you recommend that we don't buy right now?

Well, that is an interesting question! I myself went ahead in December and bought a 12" iBook G4 1.33Ghz because I wanted one of the last G4 iBooks ;)

I'm one of those lovers of the PPC, kind of my geek thing. But honestly I think I can safely say to go ahead and wait for Tuesday before you go buying hardware if you are worried about it, it is only a few days away :)

This thread is absolutely worthless without pictures....:D

I do hope something cool, and relatively affordable, comes out Tuesday.

I think that's pretty much a given. Apple's "fun" invite probably won't apply to $3K workstations.

My problem with chasingapple is that he's essentially saying "wow - there will be something cool announced on Tuesday and I have it now!"

I'll give him the (rather large) benefit of the doubt and assume that he's being honest. Something cool is coming Tuesday, and he has it.

Big whoop. Numerous people have early access to Apple products pre-release-date. It'd be like me saying "wait until you see this new Nokia phone coming out in Q2, it's awesome!" I see products before they're announced. Many are cool. Just saying I've seen them with no details is simply a form of bragging.

Given that nothing in his posts exhibits any level of detail, and that he could claim almost any new release would fit within what he was describing, these posts serve as nothing more than an attempt to get attention, which worked, but there's no meat to this story.

If he posts full details five minutes before the press event starts, well, then I'll pay more attention to his posts.

Hmm, I looked up my preview of back in the day for what was planned for the new iBooks at the time, I was not far off at all!

G4 1.33Ghz 12" / G4 1.4Ghz 14"
Radeon 9600 64MB
30GB Drive (Low End)
512MB Ram (Still 266mhz)
4200 RPM Drives

Above is what I was told at the time for the new iBooks, and I bought one when it came out, let's see what was right.

G4 1.33Ghz 12" / G4 1.4Ghz 14" - (Nailed it, 1.33Ghz and 1.42Ghz released)
Radeon 9600 64MB - (ATI presented a Radeon 9550 32MB with core graphics possible, so this was changed, and saved Apple a ton)
30GB Drive (Low End) - (Apple gave us a 40GB, thanks Apple!)
512MB Ram (Still 266mhz) - (512MB correct, but now using DDR 333Mhz, thankyou again Apple!)
4200 RPM Drives - (Dead right)

Hmm, I think my information at the time was pretty darn accurate. In this industry small things change all the time until the green light is given to start production, mostly it ends up being which parts does the company have a stockpile of that should be used to make way for newer parts later :)

Edit - I would also like to point out that when Mr. Jobs announced the MacBook Pro, it was changed at the last minute with a more powerful Intel Core Duo! Things change quickly around here, and boy does it keep us on our toes!

Cheers

My point is that you aren't even trying to give specs or even a vague description of what is coming - just saying that we'll like it. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that people on these forums might - maybe - like products that Apple announces.

So what.

I don't see why he is lying. You got to be a total moron to tell everyone here about a new product coming out. Apple has a secret jail for squealers. But then again even I can make the same prediction he did.

Glad to see you're capable of spotting a joke when it's right in front of your face, as apparently everyone around here isn't as perceptive. :p

Honestly, I'm not bothered if you're lying or not, but I definitely agree on the PPC end. I'm still purely G3 and G4, and probably will be until support disappears entirely (and even then will stick with it for most things). Solid boxes.

I learned long ago that there is no point to a battle on a message board, so no worries about a good joke here and there! On the G3/G4 front, even if Apple dumps it completely in the future, there is Yellowdog and the Linux community there to keep it going for a good long time! Yellowdog is commited to continuing PPC development. Now if Broadcom would just release a driver for the Airport Extreme we could have some real fun!

Well, I'm going to take the OP at his/her word. I'm already excited, both for new products and a nice, long-lasting (I really hope these products will help quarter earnings...) bump in my AAPL stock, so I can cash it out sooner and buy that MacBook Pro I've been wanting.

Pictures would be nice, but hey, I might (emphasis on might) be able to last three days without 'em.:p

The whole thread is just plain stupid, information value of 0, attention seeking value of 5.

It wouldn't be so bad if there was a single piece of concrete information that we could reflect to after the Tuesdays event. Now it's just "oh really, Apple will be releasing cool stuff on Tuesday? Great insider info, that's what they said in the invitation!" ;)

I'm going to give you one thing, he's definitely not full of it. He can't tell you because if he does, he's dead meat. ;)

As was suggested on another thread, how about posting more details encoded with GPG and a 256 bit key, and then post the public key after the announcement.

OP was fine. We all love Apple, what's so wrong with getting excited?

I'm excited he's excited.

I want to see the new video iPods and the iBooks. I'm excited... thanks OP

Am I going to regret recently buying a 5th generation iPod?

Your OP speaks of "evolution of a machine"...that would seem to indicate a better/improved existing product and not a "new" device...;)
Yeah, pretty sure it's going to be like an "Apple Media Device". iPod like, but bulkier, with a bit of additional functionality. I doubt it'll replace the current iPod, more like compliment it.
