Everyone, I had 15 minutes to see the new toys, and Apple was ok with my post, I did it there! They laughed at the post and told me "good one, and they will never believe you anyway, lol"

Get excited people, the stuff is goodness!

So you were posting from Apple HQ, with their bemused consent, at 2.07a local time???? Well, I'm convinced now.

I've decided I was too grumpy earlier.

If chasingapple is feeding us a line of BS, fine, it's been fun reading all this.

If he has seen something cool, even better, as it's nice to know he thinks it's exciting, meaning it isn't a 5G iPod in red.

In any event, I'll be buying something Tuesday. ;)

G4 1.33Ghz 12" / G4 1.4Ghz 14" - (Nailed it, 1.33Ghz and 1.42Ghz released)
Radeon 9600 64MB - (ATI presented a Radeon 9550 32MB with core graphics possible, so this was changed, and saved Apple a ton)
30GB Drive (Low End) - (Apple gave us a 40GB, thanks Apple!)
512MB Ram (Still 266mhz) - (512MB correct, but now using DDR 333Mhz, thankyou again Apple!)
4200 RPM Drives - (Dead right)

Here's how I see it.

Things you got right:

Processor (sort of)-The iBook clock speeds generally followed the PowerBook speeds (1.33ghz was the next logical step).

Ram (sort of)-I think it was pretty reasonable to expect this anyway

Drive Speed-Was this really a prediction? "Dead right?"

Things you got wrong:

Graphics Card- Always changing, hard to predict unless you have inside info

Drive Size- Same as above

Watch out Ms. Cleo! Also, you said people at Apple watched you post on prototype products on the same type of rumor site that they sued for leaking information? And at 2 in the morning? Do I have this right? Just wanted to clarify ;)

So... if he's told you nothing, why are you sure it's not BS? I don't actually care, but I've been sucked into this thread, so I feel I must ask.

unless you have been there, you don't know what the offices look like. I understand why he wouldn't budge. cost him his job, and i really don't want someone to lose their job over MR (serious). I think he isn't lying (have a gut feeling), but am trying to look at all sides, not just the biased, i think he's right and will defend him side.

Thankyou my friend, appreciate the kind words. Trust me, if I could just post everything I saw and throw up some pics (trust me there are no cameras allowed where I was, lol) I would have in a heartbeat, I am an Apple fan just like the rest of you. Tuesday is only 3 days away, you will see then. I only wanted to post a thread saying get excited is all. I had no intention of saying what anything is, what I saw, pictures or any of that stuff. Just when I saw what I saw I was so damn excited that I thought it would be cool to post the thread is all. Take it for what it is, a fan that was VERY excited and in the moment :D

I just assume all this means is that I'll be charging the card up in three days. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt (why not?), and say I'm glad you're excited and that I hope to share that excitement in a few days! :)

I can easily understand that. When I was at the Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, Tenn. where Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated, they wouldn't allow cameras (or camera phones) in either; they even had everyone go through a metal detector to make sure. I'm sure we can all understand that Apple would go through similar, if not more stringent, security measures with its newest products that haven't been announced yet.

What do you do that gives you such privilege & access to Apple headquarters? Is there any way you can show some credentials or a scanned business card (last name, last 4#s of the phone/ fax blurred out) or something saying why you were even allowed to be around said "cool items"?

I don't think that's necessary - and what would it prove, anyway? Apple - like any corporation its size - uses outside consultants, manufacturers, partners, etc., and non-Apple employees "see the goods" before announcements.

A very dear friend that works there is all I have to offer in that respect, I have been there a few times now, awesome campus! I have been to the MS campus as well in Seattle, but they are annoying there and live and breath MS stuff, they wont even alloow iPods on the employees anymore! But the Apple software people there are really cool.

Maybe they work in marketing or something? If I had something to do with all of this, I wouldn't want anybody making ads for whatever the product is until the very last minute, so as to limit leaks as much as possible, and then I would only trust a few marketing people to do it. Since they were shown whatever it was at 2am, perhaps it was because the decision to let them to the ads for whatever it is was right before, and they had to get started ASAP (hence the long night).

Pure speculation, but who knows?

EDIT I guess not.

Only if he returned the Everlasting Gobstopper first. ;)

Actually you are right - they had to bring in a negociator and the deal that was stuck was as follows:

In exchange for the "Everlasting Gobstoper" he received an hour in the "glass elevator" & was allowed to drink directly from the chocolate waterfall.

Thankyou, very true! I cant tell you how many things I saw that I offered to buy just cause they were there and coming out soon, but they wouldnt let me, lol. I started writing a check the last time I was there for the Nano, but it was a wait til its in your Apple store Pat!

I have signed 5 exclusivity agreements so far, and working for Westwood Studios in the past I understand fully how product is treated, and never have I went babbling about stuff coming out, hell my name is on PC games ranging from Eye of the Beholder 2 to Blade Runner, so being on the "inside" is nothing new to me. But the behind the scenes stuff is hella exciting!

Personally, I'd take seeing an Apple product pre-release any day over a drink from a chocolate waterfall.

Man am I excited!

EDIT ChasingApple, I'm just wondering, can you tell us how many times have you been to the Apple campus to see pre-release products?
