Look, I'm getting out of this thread (doubtful)... I talked to him online and... it was just the way he talked, look, he convinced me that he was there and... how about you guys just wait till Tuesday?

I'm excited about it, sure.. but to tell you the truth, there are more important things to life than future Apple products.

It's just the truth. ;)

A very dear friend that works there is all I have to offer in that respect, I have been there a few times now, awesome campus! I have been to the MS campus as well in Seattle, but they are annoying there and live and breath MS stuff, they wont even alloow iPods on the employees anymore! But the Apple software people there are really cool.

I didn't mean to sound too skeptical, and have been in the same situation regarding General Motors design facility. But with my experience pre-release items are still under lock and key for all but those involved, but they will show stuff that his been made public or the general grounds. I am skeptical that is all - but I hope you are right.

Maybe they work in marketing or something? If I had something to do with all of this, I wouldn't want anybody making ads for whatever the product is until the very last minute, so as to limit leaks as much as possible, and then I would only trust a few marketing people to do it. Since they were shown whatever it was at 2am, perhaps it was because the decision to let them to the ads for whatever it is was right before, and they had to get started ASAP (hence the long night).

Pure speculation, but who knows?

EDIT I guess not.

If that was the case he could have plainly said something along the lines of I was there for marketing & not be incriminating himself but he just said he was there with no justification.

I am just playing devils advocate & other parties seem to be wanting to play along so why not - it's like 20 questions.

Perhaps, but I'm sure Apple asked him to sign a non-disclosure agreement along the lines of "I won't speak to anybody about these products or why I'm here until Feb. 28 after 11am without consent of Apple Computer, Inc., blah blah etc.", and since Apple people watched him post and let him do so, he had consent. Since he probably doesn't want to be accused of breaching a contract, he's keeping his mouth shut about the products. I say we should all applaud him for keeping his word to Apple and not telling us all about everything.

Let's just wait and see, eh?

EDIT Not to mean that I'm against speculation; I just think he shouldn't be criticized and held under a lens just because he told us something he knew we'd want to hear.

of course they did. The keynote is at 10 AM btw. i think you need to sign the non-disclosure things before entering the building (except town hall:D ). I understand why he can't tell, and don't want anyone sued over this. Its only a couple of days away. you can wait. how long did he wave to wait for MWSF? exactly.

I'm still not sure why everyone is sticking up for this story. I really don't mean to be blatantly negative, that's not the type of person I am, and I apologize in advance.

But seriously, there are a lot of weird facts here. How did you see these products in the first place? How was a "friend" able to let you in? 2 in the morning? They watched you post on MR with it? It's all just a little too weird for me. And all you can say is "get excited." I suppose if you did have inside info about products, I could understand not being able to talk, but you have no info for us and no proof you were there. Why say anything at all. I guess if Apple just spits out a boombox, it would be a "last minute change?"

Personally, I'd take seeing an Apple product pre-release any day over a drink from a chocolate waterfall.

Man am I excited!

EDIT ChasingApple, I'm just wondering, can you tell us how many times have you been to the Apple campus to see pre-release products?

I have been there a few times now, and since I have there is more trust for me then a regular outsider would have. I love the family there in Cupertino, just the best team of people I have ever met all dedicated to a single company. It really is unreal there. It helps to have a friend on the design team :)

Let me just add there is no sleep for the Apple folks right now, hehe.

I know it's at 10am, however, I don't know if the Town Hall is like the California Theater; meaning that whomever is invited might not be able to give us live updates from the event, and the Apple Store will probably be down for the whole keynote, so I'm guessing that he won't be able to disclose it until after the keynote's over, assuming that nobody can tell us what's going on while the event is happening.

Wow, that was one long sentence, yet grammatically correct nontheless.:D

Depends on who the friend is.

Jonathan Ive has been on pretty much all the design teams...right?:D I'd say he, along with plenty of other people, probably has enough credibility to get people in the building at 2am.

EDIT Apologies for not editing on the above post; completely slipped my mind.

Jay, what is wrong with being extremely excited and posting on actual future hardware about how excited I am about it? Live a little my friend, if you were in my place you would be doing the same exact thing I promise! hahaha.

Cheers mate.

Well, I began reading this thread with strong skepticism, but after having read through all the posts, I am more excited than ever about Tuesday! Chasingapple, I'm sure you've seen something and that's awesome for you, bro. More power to you! Thanks for bringing us in on the excitement...seriously. I thought I was excited when the other big thread pretty much put the nail in the coffin about it being a mini (I still have hope...), but now I'm really psyched up about this event! I can't wait to see what it's going to be and I hope I'll want to buy one! :)

Lots of artwork throughout the buildings and offices, the creative lounge rocks the world (my favorite room), and more older G3 and G4 Powermacs then you can shake a stick at. The room covered in font designes was pretty damn cool too, so many different fonts! 2 of the coolest things I saw was the old newton (first time seeing one in person) and the all black iBook clamshell proto was cool :)

wait. wait. wait. hold up. did u say black iBook clamshell proto!!! Wasn't the clamshell from the past. but when did they make it black. wow. so we will see an ibook. time to get the credit card ready :D

EDIT: did a google search, was it something like this by any chance : http://www.applefritter.com/node/7406 or was that sarcasm which apple will suit you over, or was it proof that this is fake. i'm confused.

Well, I'm not ruling out the possibility of you having seen inside info, and I would certainly understand the excitement if thats the case.

The whole story still seems a bit off. Wouldn't the employee be under terms not to talk about prototype products? Wouldn't they be in trouble if they were to let an outsider in? Anyway, the only thing you have really said was "I'm excited." It's like coming back from Area 51 and saying you saw some really crazy stuff but you can't say anything about it. Okayyyyyyyy. You certainly have sparked a lot of controversy over nothing, that's for sure.

EDIT: Well, I see you have posted a little more info above. All I'm trying to say is that this is very thin as far as rumors go around here. This is the type of thing people would jump all over, but for some reason or another, most people are convinced.

I'm not saying you're necessarily lying, but what is so convincing to everyone??

The iBook clamshell proto was way old man. It was a room that had some old proto hardware in there, stuff that has since been released. I doubt Apple would get mad at me for talking about a discontinued product form factor :)

i was just confused. i knew the old ibooks were called clamshells, but i never really thought about what they did with old prototypes. I do like the ibook i linked to above (even though the orange would drive me mad after an hour of use). Apple wouldn't get mad if you are talking about old things. Just a mis understanding by me:eek:

It is not hard to be convincing when someone is telling the truth. Here is something else insider (non-Apple) that im sure NO ONE but us Westwood people know about in the game Warriors of the Eternal Sun (for sega genesis). In the graveyard in the starting castle area, if you go down into the crypt of the king you will see the text that reads,... "Here lies the remains of King Offord", which funny enough, is my last name!!! I know I know, means nothing to anyone or to this thread, but I had to say it, lol.

Point being, Im just an excited guy and I cant wait to see Mr. Jobs speak again!

By being naturally pessimistic/skeptical of unfounded truths generally leads to a higher level of excitement with reality when the truth unfolds.

If your story is credible then I am confident that there are some things you just can't say but for those parties interested by continuing this thread allows personal conjecture and building things up till the point that it will lead to nothing more than disappointment.

Well that would be true if I actually talked or hinted at any future hardware! I will not add a single thing to the rumor mill, just that what I saw and played with was cool as hell, will be announced on Tuesday along with more things I'm sure, and people will be excited and purchasing some things :)

How this will dissapoint people is beyond me, Apple has never dissapointed me.

Sorry I could have made it clearer - I am not saying that what you said you have seen wasn't cool but that meaning is subjective; being that you can't indulge use with any further information some will assume that there definition of cool computer hardware is parallel to yours which maybe the case for some but not all. Some/most people will be let down due to wild unfounded speculation.

While taking the skeptical approach you would be evaluating with non-offensive scrutiny, the source of the information and specific details of the device.

I apologize for the bad grammar.

I'm not going to say I believe this thread, but I also have some doubts, as anyone from anywhere in the world could have posted this, without ever stepping foot in the US, never mind Apple HQ.

Either way, this thread has me excited! I can't wait to see what comes. I'm hoping for a PDA. 4-5" screen, OS X, maybe an Intel based architecture. iPDA. That would be awesome. I'd sell my 5G in a second for one (as long as it had enough space).

Anyway, back to reality. I haven't been this excited about an apple announcement since last June.
