14", 32GB, 512GB. I could just about compromise with the SSD as I know I'm being lazy with my storage. I think the base 14" is good for musicians who aren't reliant on a lot of virtual instruments but I guess from the specs it should chew through those for a while. The higher specs, especially the 16 inch, are crazy. What are you using that for, like on-site 4k rushes?!

Guys just don't suggest me going for Air. I open too many windows in the browser but I'm not a "pro" per se.
What's worth upgrading? I'm a lawyer who is active on fb and likes shopping online. I don't want to overpay but when I think about it sometimes 300$ so it's much much per se.

I will say they look kind of chonky - something about how they blended the rounded corners, flat surfaces, and feet
Definitely think they aren’t lookers at first glance like their predecessors… might look better irl, or at least you’ll get used to them. It’s the black keyboard depression that’s really messing with me

Yeah tbh I really hate the new design.. just looks weird when it’s closed and I don’t like the black keyboard background neither. Definitely a step backwards from a design point of view imo

Ordered. Went with midline options for RAM and GPU. Hope the GPU is as good as what I had in my 2019 16".

I'm looking forward to the new design. Just wish there had been more color options. Maybe white keyboard? Other metallic colors for chassis? And hope some day it'll have FaceID.

I am still trying to understand,
what is the difference on the configuration of the two new mbps,
with M1 pro chip.

I cannot find why to choose the 1st or 2nd.
Please tell me.

Worried about the battery life. M1 MBP has 20 hours web surfing, M1 pro only 11. Could it be the screen brightness? At the same brightness level the time could be closer?

Not trolling. Anyone recommends 14" the basic or will 32 is almost a must?
For the uses you described in your other post, you really don't need a Pro chip. You said not to recommend an Air, but honestly, that would be the smart choice for what you said you do with it. Opening browser tabs and doing online shopping is not what these machines enhance for you.

You certainly won't need 32GB of memory. I'm a software engineer and I plan to do some light gaming on mine as well, and I only went for 16GB, so unless you're doing some kind of hardcore image or video editing, go for the base model.

I just ordered a 14" base model to upgrade from my 2018 Air. Also the military pricing is a little better ($50) than the student pricing for those trying to squeeze every dime out of the purchase.

I'm hoping these new MBP hold up as well as the older MBP circa 2002-2013

I had issues with my all my keyboards, touchbar and trackpads with every mbp I've purchased since.

I don't mind the notch, it's unusable space for the most part with the menu bar already there. I just hope these new mbp's are more reliable.

Looking forward to the Oct 26th delivery!
