On my order page, they have the order number for the stock i7 they ordered from Apple for me.. Once they receive they are going to do the upgrades and then ship it to me.
I noticed today on the Amazon product page that the iMac will ship in "Amazon frustration free" packaging. The information I found on the site seems to indicate to me that the iMac won't ship in the regular Apple box. Apple packaging tends to be as compact and minimal as possible, so I don't know what the gain is on this one.
Has anyone else ever gotten something, especially and Apple something, in one of these custom boxes? I hate to be a shallow Apple snob, but I want my box. Might be enough for me to spend the couple extra bucks and get it from the Apple Store when they arrive.

I just placed an order with MacMall for the i7. I spoke with two reps as well as their manager and they all confirmed that they will be receiving shipments starting next week. They told me they would be getting 30 on the 16th, 30 on the 18th and would have a total of 115 by November 20th. They said that after that 115, they don't expect more until later in December. The rep confirmed with me, when I ordered a few minutes ago, that there were 92 orders for the Z0GF-2.8GHZ part number.
By the way, I ordered online while I was speaking with these reps. My cart was showing a discount of 65.82, which was not inclusive of the 100.00 mail-in rebate. They could not replicate from their end so I went ahead and placed the order online. The price for the i7 after mail-in rebate was 2053.71 with shipping, which is pretty sweet!
We'll see if any of this holds up.
that is GREAT NEWS! It's nice that MacMall has given out such detailed information on this... makes me feel like they're not just guessing that they will get theres by next week but actually have scheduled shipments coming in! I ordered from Amazon and can't get anything remotely close to that kind of info... I'm just hoping that resellers 'in general' will be getting theres next week...

I spoke with them today and it sounds like there are starting to get shipment notifications from Apple. They are "trickling in"

I contacted MacConnection support a couple days ago about when the QC iMacs were shipping, they said this Friday.

Interesting. MacConnection told me earlier this evening that they wouldn't be able to ship until December...
Asked them again, now it's "Late November." They don't seem too sure
I might just cough up the extra $300 and buy the i5 at an Apple Store.
I just called the local Apple store and the word is "they are coming, but we don't have them yet." Well; not much to go on. I'm wondering if pent up demand will deplete the first batches or if there are lots of them shipping all at once.
I'm guessing it's just an automatic thing that gets applied to anything w/o a solid ship date, but that wasn't what I wanted to see this morning.
yup..i'm seeing the same thing... this is frustrating..
i tried calling amazon...useless.. they tell you the same information as you can see for yourself on your own account...
i think i'm just going to head to the Apple store and if they happen to have it..then i'll just purchase it there with my employee discount... i'll end up paying a little more then if i bought it at Amazon..but i'd rather not have to wait til 2010 to get this... if thats the case, I might as well wait for the iMac refresh next spring!
Got mine from PowerMax. No tax & free ship. Still waiting on my i7 from them, though. Ordered in Oct. and they say my i7 will arrive sometime this week to them and it'll ship same day...

I pre-ordered this thing back on Nov 1st so don't know why they are sending me an email like this now. I plan on waiting til the end of the week. If no new information on shipping date, I plan on just buying it from the store.

Funny, I spoke with clubmac this morning and they told me that they expected to get 331 imacs on Nov 17th and that I was in the group who had preordered mine in time to receive one of these machines.
We'll see if that is reliable info tomorrow, but certainly seems much more informative than whoever spoke with you.
A MacMall rep told me that they're expecting a batch on the 17th, one on the 20th, and one on the 23rd.
The key here is, if you read the other replies, that regardless of the reseller they haven't a clue and keep changing their stories based on who answers the phone (or calls the customer in my case)
anybody hear anything from any of the resellers? Been seeing a lot of the 16th and 17th as the days that these resellers expect them in and if nobody is hearing anything from them at this point then they were probably just full of it and making educated guesses on when they might be getting these in stock...
Well, I gave up and bought an i5 from my local Apple Store this AM. Cancelled the Amazon order. This probably means that they'll ship tomorrow, which is lucky for all you.
