yeah, same here.
that's why I gave my info to a sales rep - the second he calls me I'm leaving work to head to an apple store (nearest one is < 10min drive)

I did that when the MBA's first came out (to the store manager in Tysons Corner). He never called.

Stay on top of the boards in case that rep is like that one was.

I very much enjoyed the humongous screen but I could stay with the MBP just a little bit more waiting for the quad. Now i5 or i7? Always quandaries.

Go for the i7. You know you want to.

When I asked a "Genius" at the University Park Village store if they had i5/i7 iMacs in stock, she told me, "No." When I asked if she had any idea when they would be in stock, she told me, "No."

They must be getting inundated with the question because she wasn't even nice about it.

I got the same treatment from a lady in the Sydney Apple store.
Very rude!
She was obviously having a bad day.....

Answer: IN NOVEMBER, THAT'S ALL WE KNOW.

Keep pushing. I do want it.

Think the i7 will be available in the stores or will I have to order online?

If online, what am I waiting for!?!

Online only as it is BTO. You could order now, or wait until you read a few more official reviews.

I asked a simple question – "any recent news on the availability of
the i7 Imacs? (I even said, hi there, how are you today......no reply)

Answer: IN NOVEMBER, THAT'S ALL WE KNOW.

She obviously doesn't value good customer service......
I got the message loud and clear.....buy your computer from a reseller! Thank goodness for NextByte.

I have had this fight with some people on the board on this subject.

I think it's really difficult on the reps to have to answer the same, basically unanswerable, question multiple times a day. We should use the board so that the info that a few people pick up by calling the store is transmitted to all. No reason for all of us to be calling all the time.

At this point, its safe to say no store has any. As soon as someone detects that even one store has one, we can start trying to find out which have them.

Let's use the power of the crowd and the board to avoid driving the stores crazy.

I agree with you Scott6666, however, on the flip side... perhaps that is the price the "Geniuses" should expect to pay when they take a job with Apple. Most people here absolutely LOVE their Macs and its Mac fever every time Apple releases a new product. Maybe they should be upset with Steve for being so secretive and keeping us all in the dark...?

I too bought the C2D on October 23 ( from the Apple Store at the Garden State Plaza in New Jersey ) thinking that heat and/or noise would be an issue with the Quads... OK that's not the entire truth. Part of the reason I bought it was because I absolutely fell in love with the display and I needed to see that baby sitting on my desk immediately. Now I sit here wondering if I should have held out for the Quad.

I too have called the NJ stores several times this week looking for an update and have received the same story everyone else here received. I was lucky enough to make friends with the local Apple Store business manager, whom I purchased the C2D 27" from, and he's assured me about 3 times that he will notify me when the Core i5s come in. If he sticks to his word, and he better considering I've spent about 20 grand at that store in the last 2 years, I will certainly update this thread with the news.

I'm on a trip right now to Colorado Springs, and having never been to an Apple store before (they don't have any within 3 hours of my house), I decided to pop into the Apple store at the Briargate shopping center. I was very impressed with the layout of the store and my jaw dropped when I saw the 27" in person for the first time. But I wasn't too impressed with the people that worked there.

I wasn't expecting them to have the i7 in-stock, but I thought I would check anyway and report back to this thread. The first person I talked to said that it wasn't in stock yet and that they weren't even shipping from the Apple store yet. I casually mentioned that the i7 was in fact shipping now, and they said they would be right back. They came back with someone else and they told me that the online Apple store wasn't shipping the i7 yet. I smiled and casually said, it's no big deal, but they are in fact shipping. They then insisted that this was impossible, so I pulled up this forum and showed him. They seemed shocked and then informed me that I have to watch out because a lot of people "fake" the arrival of their new Mac. I said absolutely, but there's absolutely no way that hundreds of people would fake it at the same time.

I preceded to admire the new 27" and then got the heck out of there as quick as I could.

Did you show them the threads with the unboxing pictures and the benchmarks? lol They sound like amateurs. :p

I showed them the thread with unboxing and the dozens of shipping confirmations. I was really quite surprised -- I thought Apple stores had employees that were "with it".

It is nice to go into the Apple store and "peruse" the beautiful display models and get that "quick fix" until the shipment arrives......

But don't dare ask any questions.....

I KNOW! TELL ME ABOUT IT!

I went to another store today to see if I could put one in 'reserve'. After talking to the guy for a bit... he said that he doesn't even think they have been shipped at all.
I too showed him the thread, shipping numbers, unboxing videos and so on... and he was totally amazed... as if he didn't even know about this forum in the first place.

Hahaha, teaching one person at a time, showing them the light. :D

At least Apple Stores have employees to talk to. If you go to Home Depot, oh boy. Was there last month and spent 10 minutes walking the store trying to find someone.

I've asked the employees directly about that. They have to sign all sorts of confidentiality things and are told specifically not to go onto the boards. Most of them don't seem to know or care that the boards exists, but those that do say they stay off of them. Apple also don't want employees giving out unsubstantiated facts, which would have the be level of many board posts.

All the information you see here you will not find in the Apple store (unless of course it orignated there, like stocking info).

any news on any front?
I might call back the same 4 stores I did yesterday around 4-ish EST

No news. Usually I walk right past a store for lunch a few days a week but today it's so cold and rainy here, I'm staying in! Call for us.

I work for fed ex at the airport and we had alot of big apple boxes coming down the belt this morning going to all the drivers with apple stores on their routes. I Haven't had time to call or check in yet.

Awesome! What airport is it if you don't mind?

Nada for me too. "We haven't received them yet and all we know is that they are shipping sometime in November." Looks like a no go for this week.

Come on :apple: ... im know you love $$

Newark Airport

wow, awesome
I'm in the southern part of CT, so my assumption is that they shipment would ether arrive to Newark, La Guardia or JFK. I hope those were i5's in those boxes and that some of them make it up my way.

are you allowed to disclose what time these boxes were loaded on to the trucks? because I'd be willing to call and check your store if you're not able to (assuming you didn't see the boxes 10min ago)

now this is what I call using the POWER OF THE BOARD! :D :D :D
