Will they go to a FedEx distribution center first? Are we sure they weren't online orders for customers and instead store shipments? Even if they landed tonight, we might not see them hit the shealves until this week or early next week if this is the case.

I have to say that my i7 looks a lot better on my desk at home than the 27"ers in the Apple store. The display really lights up the room a lot more than my old 19" Sony.

Most certainly

Don't really think we have a way of knowing until they get to the FedEx distribution center and sent off to local hubs.
but my guess is that they would be shipping pre-orders and retail supplies at together (or so I hope)

Some currier's deliver to commercial locations on weekends, so assuming they did land and were sent to local hubs today...my guess is that they would be delivered on Saturday or Monday.

again, these are just assumptions based on what little knowledge I have about how these postal systems work.

thanks for rubbing it in ;-)

I currently have a 21.5" Samsung powered buy a 2nd gen MacMini (1st Intel CoreSolo MacMini). I'm sure my future i5 will look great in my minis place :p

After another disapointing day at the local Apple store w/ no quad cores, I came home and ordered an i5 from Apple online. Of course now I wish I would have done that in the first day or two. Oh, well. At least I can stop checking the retail stores every day and instead start checking my e-mails! :apple:

this was a post by someone in the 'Waiting to Ship' thread...

So after reading this I thought I'd give the downtown SF store another call (I already checked in this morning :p). Sadly, they still don't have them in. BUT, when I pressed on their expectations, they did tell me "honestly? we'll get them in next week sometime". :D

I'm sure that's faster than it would be if I placed an order online right now. The only issue is it's starting to bug me that I'm not getting the i7. I really don't think I'll need it though, so... one i5 in the Apple Store next week is worth two i7s "waiting for shipment", so to speak.:)

OH MAN! I'm so glad I checked this before leaving work haha
I gonnna call them up right now and stop by on my way home if they have any

I kind of feel the same. but I really HATE waiting haha - the i5 is enough machine for me ;)

I would stop in and see for yourself. Garden State, Tice's Corner and New York Palisades have all said, as they put it at the Palisades store, "we have no clue"...

Who knows, maybe the store employees are so tired of being asked that they are just shaking things up a bit to have some fun...

Are you going to stop in person and see for yourself?

I would, but since I live so close to Delaware with tax free shopping I was just hoping to purchase the i5 from the Christiana Mall store. I would save around $140 or so by purchasing it in Delaware.

I could be wrong but I believe that regardless of whether you live in Delaware or not, if you physically go to that store, they will still charge you tax.

I retract the above statement. I just remembered that Delaware has no sales tax!

Yeah it worked like a champ when I purchased my MacBook Pro a few years ago. It may not be the most ethical thing to do to NJ, but they get enough of my money anyway :D

Just picked up a quad core i5 at my apple retail store in Orland Park, IL, a Chicago suburb. Woo!

Wow!! Really?!?!? Did they just get them in stock today?

Well since it seems that the Apple Store employees have no idea what is coming until it gets there, Chicago must have received their shipment early. Assuming they are all coming from China, I suppose the West Coast and Midwest stores would get them a day or two earlier than East Coast stores?

Now that I have an i7 on order with MacMall that is actually going to end up being 20.00 cheaper than the i5 would be at the local Apple Store, it's worth waiting a couple of weeks for it.

You mind showing pictures of an edited receipt or a box? That'd be awesome. Big congrats.

Checked w/both KC stores today. No dice. Clueless workers. Same old same old.

Great thread.

I'll snap a pic of the box with my iPhone after I set it up.
