Well, opened up my i5 and there was a dead pixel in the middle of the screen. How depressing. I'm bringing it back for a new one tomorrow; I didnt pay $2k to stare at a black dot for the next 3-5 years. Bummer...inspect your screens, guys.

No news in the uk. Every store I call just tells me that it's only half way through November. I called my local one on Thursday and was told they had them in. i rushed down there to find they only thought there was one 27" imac which was the c2d.

Some do & some don't

It's curious to me that some stores have them while others don't, especially which stores. I'm going to call the store at Saddle Creek (Memphis) today. With the biggest FedEx hub there, if they don't have them, I don't know what to think.

Well, I was at Fair Oaks (VA) last night and there was a guy there with one - I asked and he said he had ordered it and was bringing it in to have stuff transferred from his old iMac. I was excited for a minute there, though.

Our big local store (Tyson's Corner) is remodeling and closed for another week, I'm suspect they'll have them when they reopen.

Anyone heard about an i7 showing up in any store?

I generally don't like to order online BTO...

Man, I love this thread.
I'll be heading over to my local Apple store I the morning. I really hope they have them in stock :-D

I also shop at the Stamford store -- they told me yesterday evening that they had some i5s in stock, but the sales rep had gotten the models mixed up (as I learned when I went down to buy one). Nothing in today when I called a few minutes ago. Oh well -- would love to hear if/when you hear something, though I'll keep trying.

Maybe I just didn't understand what you meant, but I thought BTO was available only online?

It'd be awesome if i7's showed up, but I'm not holding my breath.

Apparently when the estimated ship date online changes from "November" that is when stores will begin to receive stock. This has not happened in the UK or most of Europe. The vietnamese, New Zealand, Mexico and Brazilian statuses have changed.

just called the Stamford, CT store and they said they don't have any yet but "will be getting them very very soon"
also called the Danbury, CT store.... but nobody answered (is that even allowed?). I'll try calling this store back later today.

the US site has also changed.
the quad-core iMac is listed as "ships in 7-10 days", while the C2D 27" is back to 3-5 days

Some of the stores are starting to get them. What I've heard is that it's all a matter of when UPS/FedEx drops them off at the store. They seem to be coming in small numbers, about 7-10 per shipment... or at least this is what my local business rep is telling me. I hate to be the guy calling the store incessantly but it seems that's what you need to do if you want to pick one up from a local store.

i7s will never be available in store with this iteration of the iMac. It's been said many other times across various threads on these boards, the i7 iMac is a BTO option only.

yeah, I've read on other threads/forums people reporting that their stores has 3 or 5 or 12 - never seen anyone say more than 15 yet. which I find odd, since that is a very ineffective way to ship them. most shipping boxes are shaped/sized they way the are to maximize how many fit on a pallet and I'm sure more than 5 iMacs fit on a shipping pallet...unless they were 'pallet sharing' with other Apple products?

anyways... some NJ Apple stores seem to have some in stock, which means CT should be seeing them today or tomorrow. I need to go to the mall today anyways, so I might stop by when I'm there.

Melopark Mall NJ says they have a few I5's .....going to grab one now!!!

I'm going to try that myself --- this store is 45 mins from where I am now! THANKS A LOT FOR THIS UPDATE. I called them, they do have them but they can't guarantee how many will be there in the next few hours and they can't HOLD one for me either.

Off for now

My guess, and this is purely speculative, is that the stores' supplies were piggy-backing w/the pre-order shipments to those regions. Maybe it depends somewhat on the number of orders and available extra space on regional shipments? Again, just my guesses.

Just called San Francisco's downtown and Stonestown stores. No go. :(

Man, I can't believe Naples Florida has these and company's frickin' hometown hasn't even gotten them yet.

Who did you speak to? The nightwatchman?
You claim to have called them before 9am, but they don't open until 10am.

the Danbury, CT store has "a couple" in stock - rep said he was not allowed to tell me how many.

Stamford, CT store ALSO has some in stock. This rep said if I came in today I could get one.

I'M LEAVING RIGHT NOW! :D :D
