Waiting for 27" Quad to SHIP thread

10/26: ordered i5 w/ 8GB RAM and numeric keyboard
11/08: cancelled i5, switched to i7 w/ 8GB RAM and numeric keyboard (kept the original order number though)
11/12: order status changed to "prepared for shipment"
11/13: received Apple shipment notification email with an estimated delivery date of 11/18 (although FedEx's site lists the estimated delivery date as 11/17).

Wait ... so technically .. u reordered an iMac on 11/08. An order of an iMac i5 on 10/26 has no bearing on the change you made on 11/8. There are people who ordered much before 11/08 and are still sitting on "Not yet shipped" but you having reordered on 11/08 have your shipping date already.

I'm amazed!!
 
I am just glad that everyone on the planet has either received their iMac or has it being shipped except for me. I ordered mine on 10/30 and by the time I receive mine, China will have gone back to hard core Socialism and have broken all diplomatic ties with the US. They will then send my iMac to party headquarters for Hu Jintao to use. He can then use it to figure out how much of America he wants to buy in the coming years...

Exactly, although I have a feeling that keeping the original order number must have had some influence on it being shipped ahead of many others that ordered before 11/8. My $.02.
 
Thank you for all the details guys (when you ordered, what you ordered, and delivery dates).

I ordered mine Nov. 10 so I know it'll be a while, but it helps to know where they're at in terms of shipping queue.

My FedEx estimated delivery date is also 11/17. It's too bad the weekend will stretch 2-3 business day shipping into 5-days. Maybe they will be early and arrive monday. One can always hope.

I just rang apple again because i was bored on the way home. The guy now tells me that my Imac has not even been built yet as there is a shortage of video cards of some crap.
Fairly broad status is "not shipped yet" how about "not built yet" ? The last guy told me my Imac was in customs, waiting for the Government to release it.

I know i shouldnt be getting angry about this and maybe its just the heat we have been having over here, but he did say that it probably wont be ready to ship for at least another 2-3 weeks putting me into the first or second week of December! I understand there is heavy demand for them, and the limitations of logistics etc but IMHO im looking at a 5-6 week wait to get the imac .. is that too long?

For anyone who hasnt seen what i have ordered, its a quad 2.66ghz 27" imac with an upgrade to 8 gig ram being sent to South Australia.

The consultant did say that i have express TNT courier shipping on my order, but with all the other inconsistencies in the stories im not holding my breath on that one. This is my first Imac, i hope the after sales service is better than the purchasing experience!

Good to see everyone else getting theirs around the world, they do look pretty cool.

Keep the faith. Based on the inconsistent details everyone has been hearing, for all you know if could be built and getting ready to be shipped.

You never know with Apple :)

Heh - similar story to me, the government bit anyways.


To be honest, Apple have met their 'Ships in November' "promise" - i5/i7's have started shipping in November - all that needs to happen now is for production to ramp up to meet the demand, which is going to be pretty darn hard to do (I work in logistics/manufacturing, and know how hard it is to ramp up capacity with limited lines and plant when big orders come through).

I guess the negative side of this is that we don't have them now, but the positive side is think of it as a Christmas present ;)
 
How long until after the prepared for shipment message do they send it out? I got up this morning and checked to see, now I only hope that they would still be able to get it on a plane today.

This really pi$$es me that apple are not processing orders based either on order date or number

I ordered a stock i7 on the 22nd and nothing. Still saying not yet shipped. I was really hoping that it would have changed today
 
Patience guys.

I ordered on a quad core on the 20th Oct., and still no news.
I have held out so far, but had to contact apple on another matter, and couldn't resist asking if there was any news on my order. :)
 
So here is what I have done today :

I phoned Apple and told him I want Pears because they mature quicker and I will get them sooner ! ;)

Ok now the serious stuff :

I cancelled my iMac i7 order and reordered with Apple Care and the guy said that it will not be more delayed. He also informed me that they had more orders than time to make the iMacs. He did reassure me that it will still be shipped in November.

Why did I cancel ? Well because I created 2 different orders (one Apple Care and the other is iMac with remote) and I just wanted one big one. As well I want to see if the iMac will be shipped quicker. I do have nothing to loose.

I noticed under my account that he cancelled the first iMac order but the Apple Care order is still going. Is it still going to be send and me being billed twice ?
 
I'm amazed! UPS set off with my imac on the 11th nov from Shanghai heading to Oxford, UK and it has now left my local ups base and says out for delivery ALREADY!!! After the abuse everyone gave ups i didn't think i would get it until at least next week! Good work ups!
 
This thread is hilarious, but there is something wrong in you people tracking your iMacs the way you are! :p

What's worst is that I am assiduously following every single post and I didn't even order one! :eek: I don't know why but it's addicting.

i feel the same way! except i probably will be purchasing an imac, so at least i have an excuse :D

yeh im refrshing constantly for some reason.. like its going to help in some way... Im almost resigned to the fact that i probably still have nearly another month to wait for some reason.. maybe i shoudl cancel and order an i7,, or is that what they want me to do? ohh no paranoia is setting in...
