Besides, if you order now, it is clearly stated no orders will ship for 3 weeks. It's up to you whether you want to wait or not. IF the orders are then pushed back another 2-3 weeks, then I could see you complaining and maybe getting something out of it. But I'd pay another $100 just to have a perfectly white, working iMac.

^^ thanks for that. i know and i'm not bothered either way coz as you've stated, doesn't really concern me as i've not ordered yet.
i just wondered if it happens here in the UK as well as i know (i'm from new york living in the UK now) the states tend to be more 'giving' than here in the UK!

anyhow, from what i've read so far.... only the yellow tint problem exists now and hopefully that's the main reason why the waiting time has gone from 2 weeks to 3 weeks.

i'm just waiting for some people to report that they've received theirs and definitely no more yellow tint!

as i'll be using this machine for photography work and HD video work
(that screen is what's made me decide on finally getting a mac rather than a PC)

If my order is delayed then i will be demanding something as compensation if they dont offer it freely. Hopefully ill get a perfect imac on or before my shipping date tho.

Im in the uk btw

Still waiting...

For my i7, ordered on 12/30. Recieved delay email on 1/15, saying it would ship in 7 business days. tomorrow will be the 7th biz day.

I suppose if it does not ship by close of business tomorrow i will call again and see if I can get an incentive to hold out.

hi - first post here and been watching this thread as i'm interested in getting one too (windows background) but waiting till all the problems have been fixed.

i was just wondering if people from the UK that's been waiting a while have received compensation as well? like money back or ipod or something?

If you order now, it is likely your system might not be delayed since now the ship date will be three weeks.

Posted this in another thread but it's likely more relevant here:

Well I called for a replacement within 14 days of receipt on 13th January and recieved my estimated shipping date as 26th January and delivery expected by 1st February. I kept hold of my 27" i7 (yellow lower half of screen and a non-stop headache inducing loud buzzing from the fans) until I receive my replacement.

Today I recieved the following from Apple:

"Thank you for your recent Apple Store order.

The demand for the Product you ordered has been higher than anticipated. We are shipping as quickly as possible, but cannot meet the ship date we previously estimated for you. We now expect to ship your order within 2-3 weeks. Once your order has dispatched, you will receive a Dispatch Notification email, which will provide you with detailed delivery information.

Your business is very important to us, and we apologise for any inconvenience that this change may cause."

Needless to say I am fairly annoyed considering I placed the order on 11th December after selling my two previous iMacs which were still working perfectly. So I'll be speaking to Applecare tomorrow to see what they can do to compensate for my experience, I'm figuring a memory upgrade would partially soften the blow.

I'm not angry (at least they're fixing the issue) but rather suprised after over 5 years of excellent apple service and products, they would let their customers down this badly. If I had never previously encountered the company before and this was my very first order with Apple I would be appalled by the whole process.

has anyone got theirs shipped already

i ordered mine on Dec 30th
original ship date was to be jan 14th
on 14th i got an email saying i will be delayed by 7 business days
well 7th business day from 14th was Yesterday and i looked today and it still hasn't shipped

i called apple and they said they have a shortage off units and she doesn't know how long it will be till my order get shipped cuz she said there are many many many more people before me that need to get their units shipped

i mean in 4 days it will be 1 month that i ordered the machine and it hasn't even been shipped .. this is getting out of hand a lil i think

too good to be true?

Ordered on Jan 12 from Higher Ed Store: 2.8GHZ QUAD-CORE INTEL CORE I7
8GB 1066MHZ DDR3 SDRAM - 4X2GB
1TB SERIAL ATA DRIVE
ATI RADEON HD 4850 512MB

Initial shipping date: Jan 27

Current estimated shipping date: Jan 27

Will it happen?

Just got a phone call from Apple about my replacement of 27" i5. The person told me there will be 3-4 weeks delay and apple is willing to offer a refund by check.

My replacement was originally scheduled to ship on 2/3.

ouch! i feel sorry for those that ordered back in december and still waiting..

i think steve job's managed to finally produce a bad apple. if any of you are into photography - i guess this is like Canon's 1d MKIII (which i have unfortunately but now working great - but damage has been done and resell value has been affected)

hopefully by end of Feb, they will have caught up with orders and or have fixed the problem. i'll wait till then... plenty of time for me to practice on a unibody macbook pro i'm getting at work.

Gosh this is getting extremely long for delays; waiting over month for something we paid almost 3000$ for.

They told me 2 weeks when I bought the i7 last Friday. It's only been 4 days and I'm already getting impatient...

Now I feel in 2 weeks they'll tell me it will take another 2 weeks.

Exactly the same dates and delay for me, although, mine is for a replacement. I seems likely that Apple will miss my promised delivery of Jan 27 to 29.

Ordered 6.1.2010
Estimated shipping date: 25.01.2010
Estimated arrival: 28.01.2010

Today Apple apologizes for delay and sends new shipping dates:
Estimated shipping date: 15.02.2010
Estimated arrival: 18.02.2010

I really do need a new Mac due to a total loss of my old 24" iMac. Maybe I should call Apple tomorrow and ask for "special offer" for an MacPro.

If I needed one absolutely right now I would get the i5 they have in stock in many stores, it's still a very good computer. Thing is, with my MBP working flawlessly (was repaired the day after I ordered the iMac) and having a great monthly payment plan (8% interest over 3 years), I can't really justify being in a hurry - I did not give them one penny yet.

I'll just wait, I guess when I finally receive it will be about the time which I receive my summer scholarship, so I'll be upgrading my studio equipment at the same time.

It's here, it's stunningly beautiful, and the screen is sharp and white.

Blown away.

You're serious?? Ohh f**** thats just excelent news!! :D :D thats the only thing the rest of us needs to keep some hope. Maybe the rumors turn out to be true after all, they were (still are) fixing the screen problem. :)

Keep us up to date dude

I would take either one (i5 or i7) but they are not available in germany. I spent 2 days on the phone trying to find one. Hopefully any retail store is able to deliver one the next days... Until then, Apple can "work" with my money, they have already

Well, had a great day with it. My 2006 Mac Pro 2.66 Quad runs OS X Server so it was always busy with other stuff, but the 27" i7 iMac smashes it to bits in terms of perceived performance - installing stuff, opening apps, hell you'd think there was a solid state drive in there.

I opted for the 2TB drive. My office has a few computers in but isn't noisy. I haven't heard any sounds out of my iMac at all other than the speakers.

But the screen. Wow. Next to my colleagues 30" ACD (I had to steal it when mine broke) it looks much more vibrant, crisper, and whiter. The backlighting is even and there are no dead or stuck pixels.

Fantastic value for what you actually get. I'm very happy with my choice. The Mac Pro is now headless and can continue doing what it was actually intended for. :)

I hope you all enjoy your machines, too, when they arrive.

Ordered 4th Jan. Delivered 27th Jan. UK Business store (ordered via sales rep on the phone, tracked online).

Cool, can't wait.

Yeah the i7 impresses me more the more I use it. I can't believe how fast Handbrake/Visualhub runs on this vs my "old" 17" 2.66Ghz MacBook Pro with 4GB. Just crazy!

Oh I've been ready for this for a while... I had been waiting for a new 30" cinema display forever to go with my MBP. I never taught they would release first a computer with a better screen for less $ than the 30" Screen (it makes no sense to still have the 30" at 2000$).

Anyway, yeah the benchmarks are 3 times what I currently have. I'm also buying this nice little toy to go with it (this summer):

I ordered my i7 on 01/14, and it still shows "shipping Jan 29; delivery Feb 3". Will I get a "delayed" email? And if so, when? On Jan 29 when it's supposed to ship, or earlier?
