Just got the call. 3-4 week delay. I'm going to push for some type of free upgrade. This is getting a little ridiculous.
Looks like you be doing that for a couple of days! Apple usually sends out the delay emails 2 days after the shipped date has past.

I sort of need it because i need some hard drive space. I'm still using my 1 gen macbook pro with a 100 gig hd; that is nothing now a days! Maybe i should just upgrade my hd space and wait eh?

Based on your post, if I were you I'd buy an external hard drive, they are so cheap these days. In the future you can use it as a Time Machine Drive, which is very handy. Think of 1TB USB2 for $200 top. Everything else, less space, less money.
PS: I'm not expecting anything new before April-May for the iMacs. Refer to the Buyer's guide for that, it's usullay not too far off.
I've upgraded my hard drive in my 1st gen Macbook Pro 4 times (each time upgrading when a larger drive became available, currently sporting a 640GB), and I've taking it apart probably 10 times for various reasons, removing the drive and replacing it with the stock drive so that Apple would fix the logic board under Apple Care. It's easy if you get the right tools, have a somewhat steady hand, and know how to follow directions.
I'm with you feeling like by the time I get my iMac it will be out dated. I've been dealing with this for 2 months now, and that is a long time in computers. Apple usually bumps computer specs every 6-8 months.

I ordered mine on Jan 4th and got it on the 19th. Which seems odd since some of the posters here ordered before me. I sent it back 2 days ago for a refund. It had screen flicker and blackouts.
I am also on the list of those who must wait longer...

I've (re)ordered my i5 last night (waited first to see what the apple iPad was all about) so I'm curious when I will eventually receive the machine. Then again personally Apple may take all its time needed if this mean I will get a good machine.

Really what is the alternative ? Having dodgy machines that some of us may replace n times to finally get a "good" one ? Seems to be a bigger bother then waiting some longer for getting (probably) a good machine from the first try.

Told yesterday that my i7 was shipped and estimated delivery 3rd feb.
I checked on apple.ie and estimated delivery is 29th (tomorrow)!
Check UPC tranking and all that says is that it was collected and taken to there distribution area in Shanghai.
Would i be foolish to think it will be here tomorrow?

They are all the same ship! They all provide online tracking.
UPS drivers tend to pass the speed limit more than the other companies and they use military jets to fly the packages.
Maybe not. They collect the data by the last scan (airport). It's probably in the air right now. I would trust the Apple website. Don't get too hyped up though.
found it!! went to the UPS site, they estimate the delivery for 29th, but it's still in shangai lolol, don't quite believe a delivery for tomorrow though!
