Its isn't from apple, its a spoof.

stop taking the video seriously, have a good laugh and forget about iMac delivery dates :)

Oh, Really? That's a spoof?

My bad. Just looked at the first
minute of it and turned it off.

It looks so much like the real
Apple video that I was fooled.

Apologies. I will bo watch it
again and see how long I hold out.

Yes it is a spoof because if it was not, I would clearly not buy a Mac, or at least wait for so long to get it. It is well done to some extent but the script is really bad and not smart.

Yeah, my bad.

Just watched the first minute and it
looked exactly like the Apple video
but strangely so over the top. I
thought it was real. Should have
gone as far as "it will suck your p***s"
to realize that PERHAPS.....PERHAPS...
it was a spoof.

I'm buyin a Dell if we don't have a ship date by Tuesday. No more of this BS for me.

I broke down and bought the 27" C2D Friday. I love it.

I'd been without a dev computer for almost 6 weeks now, I had to get some work done.

My plan is to return it if/when the quads start to ship in the next few weeks (and pay the restock fee, if needed). Otherwise I have a great C2D, that will last me a year or more and can the be passed to my wife.

While I'm waiting... I thought I might purchase a miniDisplayPort to DVI adapter dongle for use with my Dell 24" WXP monitor. Should be a pretty sweet setup, even if the Dell pales in comparison.

Does anyone have any recommendations for these adapters? I heard that the apple brand $30 dongle supports DVI-D and not DVI-I. I haven't checked the specs of my monitor to know if that's an issue, but the cost is. There are a few from a variety of brands selling on Amazon and newegg that are all <$20. Have people used any of these with success?

Thanks.

I have the same (or very similar) Dell monitor, and bought the apple dongle Friday. This used to be one of the best looking monitors I had used. Next to the new imac it looks like junk. So Sad. I've decided it will just be my 'email monitor' - it doesnt look good enough for anything else.

Folks, the youtube video of the guy supposedly unboxing an i5 is fake and has been discussed extensively in this forum. He's just a zit-faced teenager looking for attention.

It is extremely easy to change the information on the "About this Mac" screen. Another MacRumors user even posted a link that shows you how to do it.

Rest assured, his unboxing video is a C2D.

Had the same experience with my 24" iMac, which now looks dull and washed out in comparison

Ever since I ordered my i7 iMac, I keep checking this thread and my order status over and over again everyday...hoping to see my iMac being shipped or anyone here got their computer shipped...

Every morning I wake up to check email, hoping to see the shipment notification...or just to follow up how things are getting here

All these start to become routine...and is kinda exciting as well :p

I can foresee when I finally get my hands on the gorgeous machine, I will feel not only happiness, but also a bit anomic...

All of us are being poisoned by the apple of Steve :D

Well, this thread already has the most replies of any thread in this forum and is nearing 112,000 views. The thread with the highest number of views was the "The 2009 (Penryn) Mac Mini: Everything We Know" thread coming in at 156,016 views. I think this thread has a very good chance of surpassing this mark too...

Yes the forbidden fruit ;)

and I do agree, it is somehow hard to wait but it does build up a community of people on this thread.

Those Mini people were waiting a year and a half for a new model, so they deserve the title.

I called apple today and the rep told me that the imac quadcore should ship at the end of this week and I should get by next week. So it looks like our macs are being packed up. :D:D

This could very well could be true (the iMac shipping soon), but there are a lot skeptical people here because we have heard every possibility known to man, but one fact remains, no one has hard and fast confirmation that their quad-core iMac has shipped. I would suspect that non-forged online updates will be our first indication.

This is absolutely nothing against you, it's just hard to decipher any real information.

Brilliant summary! And kudos for using the word "anomic." Never knew there was a word that described that feeling. Heh. A lot of us must feel that way already.

What's going on here is testament to a classic principle of attraction. It's like when someone entices another by giving an offer of something exciting, which may or may not happen, leaving the other to constantly pine away on the hope it will happen. They're taking our orders and leaving us with an irresistibly vague shipping date. Only in this case Apple has business obligations to fulfill. No matter what the reason in this case, it lets them flirt with us, keeping our anticipation high. Apple always flirts and keeps us coming back for more.

Of course, Microsoft and others try to flirt, too, but the results aren't the same.

Anyone else notice that the duo-core 27" iMac now only shows a 7-10 business day shipping window, even when you configure it with the 4850 card? If Apple was waiting on the graphics card for the quad-core, looks like it's 7-10 business days away.

Yep. It's been that way for a couple of days now.

I'd say we're getting close!

I hear yeah. Was planning to do that myself, but more than just the $200 restocking fee, it's the time it takes to clone and wipe the system that made me decide against that. Will take me the better part of a day to get my new iMac all up and running to my preferences once I get it. Not interesting in doing that twice in one month.
