It all seems very legit. How did he get one already?
Search the thread to see this discussed.

It seems very unlikely that the only known quad iMac in existence was shipped to this guy shortly after the 27" was introduced, while no commercial reviewers have seen one yet let alone had one to review.

There is nothing to suggest it is legit.

I agree...and wish he would have shown the specs on the box to confirm. I didn't realise that this was discussed before, but when he shows the system profiler in the unboxing video it's pretty convincing as it doesn't look doctored at all. Maybe he works for - or has a relative who works for - Apple as others have mentioned? Look at all his gear!

Hmm if it is fake, is it possible to tamper the About Mac window and change the processor name?

I'm aware that there was a method to change the processor name in old versions of OSX/old hardware but is it still possible on modern Macs?

Oh yeah, I posted in the comments section of his video and invited him over to the forums. Perhaps he can enlighten us if he accepts. :)

most likely.

its very easy to fake though, thats why i am still skeptical.

it is very easy to do.

So Just because the guy says that he has the 27" iMac with 4850 GPU & i5 CPU, does not make it true. Nowhere does hi prove either what CPU or GPU his iMac has.

Looks like he just got a normal 27" iMac & updated the RAM....

and changed his system info information.

it would be good to see the System Profiler information or a benchmark. that would be most pleasing. i am asking him for one now. getting to the bottom of this!

yes, still very easy on current macs

Okay, I am also waiting for the iMac 27" to be shipped to me :) i hope this okay I bring this here, I didn't see a reason to start a new thread.

anyways, i ordered this beast on November 4th. This is what I ordered:

iMac 27" quad-core i7
2TB hard drive/4gb memory
and apple remote
regular free shipping

this was all under the education discount. The total came out to be $2,511.30
I printed off the receipt with that total on it.

Apple emailed me a confirmation minutes later to my email. I happen to study it tonight and the total price on the email was $2,462.39

why is cheaper then the reciept I printed off? I'm obviously not complaining, just though it was weird. What you guys think?

Were you charged sales tax? If so, look to see if it's different amounts between the email and the receipt. When you first order, the sales tax listed is estimated. Later on, Apple confirms the sales tax charges you accordingly.

They aren't shipping yet, so the video can't be genuine. It's called logical deduction.

He even hints as much with his camera work: the sudden zoom in and out, the temporary loss of focus, the top part cut off - it's a homage to Bigfoot videos.

yea i agree. the part where he said that he was going to purchase 4 remotes sort of made me believe he was either crazy or yoinking our tails.

2 reasons.

first and foremost is the fact that I am stationed in Japan and have an FPO box which apple does not deliver to. BUT they do give me a 17% deployed military discount through a company called APOBox.com that caters to deployed military and diplomats. So here is how it works; I order from apple and give them the address that APOBox issued me. They ship it to APOBox. Then APOBox slaps a new sticker, and insurance on it and sends it to my FPO box address.

2 reason: Apple distribution is in the states.

Just to clear things up for you and anyone else in our situation... you are not exactly getting a 17% DEPLOYED discount. Anyone stationed overseas (this does not mean deployed) with an APO/FPO address using that services gets the discount. The important thing to note here, though, is that the discount is the same discount ANY military member gets no mater where they are. I can't verify the full 17%, I've never seen it... so it could be true that through APObox.com you can receive UP TO 17% on some products. But in this case, you are getting the same military discount Apple offers to all Federal Employees, which is usually 5 to 10 percent. Somethings might be a little bit more.

Swiss Apple Store different

Hey guys,

I've also seen that they changed the delivery for the C2D to 7-10 Days on the US Apple Store and that even if you upgrade the graphics card if stays to 7-10 days

BUT

on the Swiss Apple Store it's different! The iMac 27" C2D is also 7-10 shipping but when you upgrade the graphics card it goes to November like for the i5 / i7...

Anyway, still no changes in the shippinh information... I am sooo excited to receive it.

On the Australia Store it's different again. It's 7-10 days, but if you upgrade the video it goes to 4-6 weeks.

Why did you create a thread about this? Apple will of course do not send out the computers either sooner or later, depending on who writes here, this thread seems to me like a cry for help. You can not affect anything in the case of Apple.

Apple will send out the computers at the end of this month (and since you ordered i5/i7 then just face the facts). Is it just me who had the feature since the launch of the computers? What have you missed?

GAH, I get mad - what would be achieved with a thread like this? Talk about when the first computer has been sent? "WOW, now my computer has been sent. How does it going for you?" Jadda, jadda.

Come on.

I would not be negatives, but it feels as if everything goes to an exaggeration in the case of Apple. I'm self-Apple users for years and spend lots of money every year, but this behavior has some purely morbid.

You're a photographer working on a computer for 8+ hours a day and you're still thinking about a good mouse... what you need is Medium sized Wacom tablet for roughly $200 and that's going to be right after the 27" iMac the second best thing you ever purchased! I've been using a tablet for design and photography for the last 8 years and I'm converting one friend after another and none of them would ever go back to a mouse for design work, ever. The tablets is so much more natural, ergonomic and intuitive.... sure, takes a couple of days to get fully used to it but you won't regret.

There are so many Wacom tablets... Which one do you recommend for a moderate user? I was listening to a review of them on a podcast recently. On some models you do get some pretty good free software. I emailed them asking when Photoshop Elements 8 was going to be available. I was thinking of getting one of these but I already have PE 6 so I would prefer the latest version.

like most other countries apple store Italy has increased delivery time to 7-10 b.days for 27 core2 with monstre ati 4670 (performance will blow you off your chair).

these cupertino laggards have got even more laggards.
amateurs.

ps. you should know it by checking their address: apple has headquarters at
"one-infinite-loop"? :D

We have to do something while we wait. Let us dream in peace!

Yep, completely agree with you. If you where to buy a PC, you wouldn't give a damn for when it comes, actually you would probably wish that it does not come.

Purchasing a Mac, is something completely different, especially if you are a fan, then it becomes very hard to wait in silence, so... you wanna share with the Mac community.

I guess it is a bit like a therapy group :p

My wife uses a Wacom Intous4 that she loves. I would recommend any size except for the small one.

Hahaha! I know what you mean....

I spoke with Apple Chat while I was comparing the i5 and i7 online. I was advised that for the typical video editing, music/videos and recording music with logic.... among other uses... that the i5 would be plenty of a workhorse for my needs. I used the extra money to get 8GB RAM and 2TB HD instead... can't wait. It will be a heck-of-an upgrade from my current 1.67GHz PowerBook G4... I think I'll refrain from going to the Apple store until I get mine... that way, I can be in COMPLETE awe when I open that baby up!

Too bad the 27" that are out now look exactly like the i5 and i7... Right? hahahah

There goes the awe! hahahah just joking!

ooow.. I hate to wait....

The shipping time for the new Apple Remote is listed as 2-4 weeks. It would seem logical that Apple would release it simultaneously with the new iMac. While not very precise, it does give a loose time frame for the i7 model release.

i know how all of you feel... I am weight for amazon to send me my iMac 27 (no quad /core)... I don't have that much of need of anything bigger or powerful.

I don't know why they are out of stock. I would have went into the Apple store and purchase my computer, but I have $1000 gift card with Amazon..

So, here to waiting!

Regarding that YouTube video just posted
above from Apple...

A little too over-the-top, don't you think?

That English guy is trying to hard to convince
everyone that this is the mecca of all computers.

(Though I don't doubt that it is)

"You'll be absolutely blinded by the display"

Will We?
