I'm upgrading my wifes Power Mac G4 dual 800 (QuickSilver) w/ 2GB ram. She uses it for her graphic design biz. We were planning to get her a MacPro+24" cinema display, but then the quads were introduced. The high-end i7 2.8 w/ 8GB of ram should be more than she'll ever need. We'll see, her G4 has been a great box.

Waiting for 27" Quad to SHIP thread

On the day I ordered my iMac, October 23, my credit card had a $2 USD pre-authorization which quickly disappeared. My credit card was authorized again for the full cost of my i5 on November 5. This authorization hasn't disappeared like the first. I was told by my cc company that a pre-authorization can be held for a maximum of 14-days. So, unless Apple drops the current authorization, my new iMac should ship sometime before or on November 19.
What I don't get is that I was charged a 193.50 pre-auth yesterday on an order (~$2200) made the 26th.
If anyone can figure that out, please chime in
Shipping times to Canada from China...
While this is only the remote, it will help give folks in Canada a rough idea of how long shipping takes if expedited.
My remote was picked up by Fedex yesterday evening. It is now in Mississauga, ON. I expect delivery by Monday. So if our Macs ship out Monday or Tuesday, we should get them by Friday

anyways, i ordered this beast on November 4th. This is what I ordered:

regular free shipping
this was all under the education discount. The total came out to be $2,511.30
I printed off the receipt with that total on it.
Apple emailed me a confirmation minutes later to my email. I happen to study it tonight and the total price on the email was $2,462.39
why is cheaper then the reciept I printed off? I'm obviously not complaining, just though it was weird. What you guys think?

I don't know if it means anything, but I just noticed the same thing... the Canadian and the US store is down.
It would be nice to see, but I'm hoping it doesn't. I'd like my iMac to get here before then

Apple Stores Are Down!
I have also checked a few other Apple Online Stores, the UK, Italy, Vietnam! They are all down! Generally they all don't go down at the same time unless something big is being changed! Fingers Crossed!

There updating the store and letting us all know the Quad i7's will now be shipping with 5870's not 4850's. NOT
They can change dates without taking down a whole store. This is probably maintenance. Happens a lot
Maybe it takes more power to change the date for all the orders? By having the store down, we can't access our orders status... so maybe they're changing the dates in the stores themselves, as well as on all of our orders? I'm dreaming here, but hey, it could be. hehe.
