I've got you all beat on upgrades...I'm pretty embarassed about this, but I gotta let you guys know someone's always worse off than you are....

Dell OptiPlex GX110 w/ Windows XP (17 or 19" monitor) ----> iMac 27" w/ Snow Leopard
Intel Pentium III 498 Mhz ---> i7
384 MB of RAM ----> 8GB of RAM
Intel 82810E Graphics Controller ----> the 4850
40GB HDD ---> 2TB HDD

Haha, yeah, I know!

Now maybe people will realize how BAD I want this computer to ship.

Okay, you win. I wont start complaining about my 2009 MacBook Pro now.

I also confirm the fact that the 27" C2D with ATI 4850 added is 7-10 day shipping in Canada as well.

ALSO:

I just called Apple to inquire about the credit cards being charged, the customer service rep I spoke to transfered me to a supervisor, who then said the following: "If your credit card has been charged, expect your product to ship within the next 8 business days."

Cheers to him, and hoping that is TRUE.

There are some quad-core iMacs out in the wild. My buddy who is a higher-up Geek Squad said his local Best Buy store just got their Core i5 27" display model the other day.

That's interesting as it would mean that Best Buy is departing from their normal Apple offering model. They haven't, in the past, carried the high end iMac (or for that matter Mac Book Pro). This also seems odd as most display units are made up of normal product stock.

OK - sounds like we'll be getting them the week of the 16th. I'm rolling with that date.

Id say next week! Apple is most of the time faster than they indicate. Understand that 7-10 days means that the computer should be at your home in 7 to 10 days ( normally before that )

Ill watch every now and then the online apple store to see if the timeframe of the quad changes. The fact that the c2d with 4850 say 7-10 means apple is no more in a shortage of ati grapics chipset ( i suppose). Lets hope a change very soon , i cant stand the stress very much longer :(

one quick question applecare must buy together with new iMac ?
or
can purchase the applecare within the one year from the purchase date of the iMac?

Here in the UK, if I choose the 27 inch iMac at 3.06 C2D and change the ATI card, it changes from 7-10 days to November.

As well, I have the feeling that the update 10.6.2 has to do something with the late shipment.

Well, here is to hoping

I just saw my MBP get bought, so now I am without a Mac until the iMac finally arrives. I ordered the i7 on the 24th.

At the risk of being too obvious, I'd like to point out to those in the "7-10 Days" and "Mid-November" camps, that today is the 7th. That means that 7-10 days from now IS mid-November....

Just sayin'....

:)

I wonder how this all will affect Amazon people. At least I used the prime $4 overnight shipping :) I know I won't get mine as fast as those who ordered direct from Apple, but hopefully it won't take forever to get mine.

Would you mind if i asked why not order from apple directly? I was just wondering.

I called Apple today so they could add an item to my order and at the end of the conversation, I asked about the shipping date for the iMac and like many of you here, I got the typical "The website stills shows November and that's the most up to date information we have"

But, I did get free express shipping! :D

Bought an iMac 24 inch in September. Then the 27 inch comes out. I went back to the store to see about exchanging but it was after the 14 days. They said they may take it back for a $200 restocking fee. I been sending e-mails trying to get a better result. Anyone have a clue on the best approach to exchanging my iMac or a good e-mail address?

Frankly, you are lucky they would be willing to accept the computer back at all, even with a restocking fee. It's two months past the purchase date. There is no way they'd give you a full refund, IMO.

Their offer is completely fair. I would probably take it.
