How about this upgrade, coming from a 2006 MacBook Pro. I've been waiting for this type of computer for a long time. So needless to say this extra wait this month is excruciating.

15" Display -> 27" Display
80GB HD -> 1TB HD
1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo -> 2.66GHz Intel Core i5
2 GB Ram -> 8 GB Ram
ATI Radeon X1600 128 MB -> ATI Radeon HD 4850 512 MB

13" Display -> 27" Display
60 GB HD (Upgraded to 300 GB) -> 1TB HD
2.0 GHz Intel Core Duo -> 2.66GHz Intel Core i5
512 MB Ram (Upgraded to 2G GB)-> 4 GB Ram
Intel GMA 950 -> ATI Radeon HD 4850 512 MB

Jumping ship!

My :apple: upgrade, coming from an increasingly underpowered 4 year old Dell Inspiron :( .

17" matte --> 27"
1.6 GHz Pentium R Mobile Centrino --> 2.8 GHz Quad Core i7
30 GB --> 2 TB
2 GB --> 8 GB
ATI Radeon Mobility X300 (32 MB) --> ATI Radeon 4850 512 MB.

New to Mac and like everyone else- can't wait!

Holy...

This is like a jump from stone age to modern age.

yes it is

You have no idea, my friend. Try doing image post processing on a dinosaur like this... Went on a vacation of a lifetime in June and took a little over 15,000 pictures. It literally took 10 days to batch convert them from RAW to JPEG.

If not shipped by Black Friday (Nov 27th)

If the Quads aren't ready by Nov 27, I wonder if Apple will discount them during the wee hours of the morning on Black Friday like they do every year. What is the discount usually? $50 - $100? Not too significant considering what we're paying but I'm sure that's a good savings for a lot of us waiting patiently. :) Wonder if you would have to cancel your order and then buy or they'll just give you the credit if you call that morning? I would assume the former would put you back in queue.

Ati 4850 512mb

the 27" $1699 with ATI 4850 512 MB says shipping in 7 to 10 days

So Quad Core 27" $1999 shipping should be before that.

usually it is $101 for $2199 iMac, but this time with heavy demand for 27" Quad Core, not so sure if there is a discount offered on that day.

Good catch! It was 3-5 days for base 27" C2D, but when you added 4850 it went to the infamous "ships: November." Now, it says 7-10 days!

If, as I believe, the hold-up was the 4850, then the QC's should also be shipping in 7-10 days. Interesting though they have not updated the QC ship date to 7-10 days. Maybe because so many are already on order :confused:

:eek:

7 - 10 business days?
Now my order is set to November again.

What's going on there!
I just looked 2 times on the quad iMac.

The first time it was 1799,00 EUR, after 5 minutes 1798,99.
Now it's 1799 again?

7-10 biz days

same keeps happening to me, it goes down by 1p.

Yep, Apple even moved back the base 27" (without the 4850) to a shipping date of 7-10 days from 3-5 days, and shipping doesn't change when you select the 4850. Good news, but the i5/i7's still haven't changed. :(

i strongly believe i5/i7 model will ship earlier than Core 2 Duo with 4850, apple might be waiting for mass production so everyone get their iMacs at the same time.

not to forget Thanksgiving sale is just 20 days away, i5/i7 iMac production should be cranking at fast rate at this time.

For what it's worth...

I just called to modify my order from the wired to the wireless keyboard (after having compared the keys/area and realizing that they were the same size for the letter area). And instead of modifying my order, which he said would delay it, the rep added the wireless keyboard for free, saying that I had waited long enough. :D

This also made me more optimistic about shipping dates than I had been...

There are some quad-core iMacs out in the wild. My buddy who is a higher-up Geek Squad said his local Best Buy store just got their Core i5 27" display model the other day.

I can confirm what mosesaro has posted. The Apple store is now showing 7-10 days for the C2D with the 4850...

And that's what I ordered even though in italy it still shows November!

My upgrade:

Athlon X2 4400 ----> Core2Duo 3,06ghz
2gb ddr2 -----> 4gb ddr3
x1800xt -----> HD4850

Even though it seems so recent it will be a hell of an upgrade :p It's been 5 years since i changed my pc last time :)
