Auto Message

Earlier this week, when you call into the apple auto message and have it check your order status it said Prepared To Ship and now after my card has the full amount pending it says In Process.

Any Thoughts???

Aaaaaand Australia is getting fully charged as well. Ordered an i7 on the 24th of Oct, got the pre-authorization about 2 or 3 days later almost simultaneous with the Applecare charge and just now I got charged for the full amount of the iMac!!! Should I be excited only to have my hopes crushed a couple days later? There's so much controversy at the moment here that I really don't know what to think... some people are still in a shipping in November limbo, some people are getting charged as it usually happens just before shipping and some others are having their order canceled and re-ordered.... so what the HELL is going on here?!?

I just want my "beast" finally at home... that's all...

I wonder why Apple uses graphics card from ATI.
In this case ATI isn't actually able to serve Apple their requested GPU's.

I don't know why Apple isn't using NVIDIA GPU's for iMacs anymore, because the new MacBooks are also supported by NVIDIA 9400M graphic cards.

ATI is owned by AMD - AMD is a competitor of Intel.
I don't like AMD or ATI, I don't know.

I think that AMD/ATI and Intel are a bad match.

What's your opinion?

competition is always good! with out AMD we would not see Quad Core Intel CPU for $199 and AMD has one at $99 (Quad Core)

All the four must remain in the field (ATI/AMD/INTEL/NVIDIA)

and

add ARM to the mix, customers win! :D

I also talked to a Apple rep, got the standard "sometime this month" response. Can't wait for the iMacs to ship... using a 7-year old computer right now.

I'll call Apple now. But Barclay Visa told you that
Apple needed to reset the date of the purchase or
if it lapses they will charge you the interest?

The Apple rep put me on hold while she called Barclays. The Barclays rep evidently told the Apple rep that if the 30 days lapse without a charge from Apple, they won't otherwise have any other indication that a purchase was made. She suspected that if a charge subsequently went through, that it would not be subject to the 0% finance deal. In that case, she suggested calling, so that Apple can inform Barclays about the situation and apply the 0% terms to the charge.

It sounds like a pain in the ass, so I hope it doesn't come to that...

My experience so far

Like many other impatient customers I have been religiously checking this thread and my order status. I placed an order for the 27" C2D at 5pm on the 20th, then after realizing that the i7 was only a little more expensive, I cancelled my order and placed an order on 10/21 at 5 am for a 27" i7 with no additional upgrades.

As for my status now it states shipping in "November." I paid most of the balance with an apple gift card which still shows a full balance and I paid the rest with AMEX which has not been billed, not even for an authorization.

I called apple sales and asked if I could upgrade to 2 day shipping, she put me on hold and then upgraded me to 2 day shipping at no additional cost, I was prepared to pay but she stated "It looks like changing the shipping didn't affect your total."

Just thought I would add my experience to the thread...

I'm thinking the delay is coming from Apple getting the 4850 chips to work with the new logic boards... that's the only explanation since it already works with the C2D mobile. Since the new C2D in the 27" is the desktop variant and so are the i5/i7's, Apple has probably been having some issues with the 4850 and these boards.

Seems unlikely. There's no way Apple would ever announce a product that they haven't actually built a working prototype for. All the evidence points to a supply issue regarding the 4850s. It's the simplest explanation that makes the most sense given the evidence we have (ie. config a 27" iMac with a Core 2 Duo w/ a 4850 and the availability changes to November).

I'm trying to be patient, but not knowing when my iMac is supposed to arrive is relatively frustrating. I know that these probably will ship in late November, but since it still just says "November" I'm holding on to hope that it could be any day now. Apple, just tell me it's going to be late November so I can stop obsessing :)

still November

What's somewhat encouraging is that Apple is still quoting November ship dates for machines being ordered now. Although they've already promised us November shipping, I would think that if there was any question that they would at the very least give themselves a little breathing room on new orders. They could easily quote 3-5 weeks, or even December for new orders, but they haven't done that. They're still promising November, even if you order now. That's got to be somewhat encouraging, right? I've only ever known Apple to UNDER promise.

My apple remote just got sent out - ahead of the nov 18 date. Here is hoping that the iMac is not far behind :)
It is shipping from China directly to Canada.

I just got mine today, I had it sent to the local apple store and picked it up there.

It's great. The i7, 8GB, and 2TB with the 4850 is awesome. I get 50fps on WOW running maxed out.

Wow this guy is ABSOLUTELY telling the truth! No really..

This is getting annoying. I'm going to have to 'try' to pull back from this waiting game. Course by the time I'm successful at it, my i7 will ship.

My logic board is semi-toast. tap tap tap. My excitement is diminishing rapidly which is a shame because that's part of the fun. I just want a DATE.

Just got my Quad Shipping Notice!!

Looks like its finally shipping on the 7th or so...this is official, see screenshot
