in process

so i called and i got something different from the automated machine than i did last week, it said my order was in process. i called just to make sure my credit card wasn't the reason for it being held up bc i haven't heard anything either way. still pending. I am just excited for it to actually get her like everyone else. especially when it ships it will only take 2 days (thanks to all for the expedited shipping tips!)

i just called apple support and talked to "stormy". i asked her if she was also a stripper but she didn't understand.

the recording said that my i7 Quad 8GB 27" (ordered 10/30, W655) was prepared for shipping but my online it still says shipping in november.

Stormy said that mine was still just shipping in november. I asked her a number of questions for others on here, here are the answers:

1) All Imacs are being shipped out in order of order placement, first come first serve.

2) She said there is no Country preference although she said that it looked like the USA was getting theirs a bit earlier.

3) She said there was no preference between i5 and i7 on shipping earlier but it looks like the i5's did go out a little earlier.

4) She said payment type didn't matter

5) She said all stock ones were shipping before custom ones

6) She said they were given no real reason for the delays other than an overwhelming response. she did say she heard it might be due to the graphic cards but that was just scuttlebutt around the office, nothing official from apple.

6A) She said the more you refresh your screen the faster your iMac will be shipped.

7) She said she wouldn't go out with me because she didn't date guys my age...

HANDS DOWN best post of the day. I lol'd and my wife thinks I'm a crackpot. Good stuff...

Couldn't agree more Merlin!!! Not sure why people are getting up in arms about this. Seems like a non issue until the calendar hits December. Then I would say one has a right to be upset. I guess people haven't ordered new release items off the interweb before?

You're missing the point. If I order a machine on day x, and you order the exact machine from the same place on day X+2 and you get yours first, that is a system that is not understandable. What some of us are seeking to understand is the shipping system and why some are getting them before others, even in the same configuration.

Waiting for i5 to ship!

Long story. The short and condensed version: my iMac G5 rev B part of the logic board/power supply recall died several weeks ago. I had the warranty work done originally.

Talked to apple about this and all the other warranty work that had been done over the years. They said it did not make sense for them to fix the G5 but would give me a credit toward the purchase of a new mac. I told them I would like to purchase the new 27" core i5.

I got an e-mail from them saying it would be $849 + Tax for the i5. Today I got my order number and now waiting for the core i5 to ship.

I am very happy with the mac experience even with the problems of my G5. I was looking to get the G5 fixed but this turned out to be an even better deal.

I think you are missing the point. There is much more to Apple fulfilling orders and shipping them than just the day you ordered it. As has been documented by a lot of people getting their panties all bunched up.

It is difficult to understand and I'm sure we will never know the exact answer. The only thing that makes sense is logistics, if they truly are the same configuration systems. I'm sure Apple lumps systems together for one reason or another for shipments to save cost.

I don't know why people are fussy about this thread. We are all posting to gain knowledge and a lot has been learned. It's not like one has to use the Internet sparingly or else it will run out. By all means, keep posting people!

Such as? No system should randomly pick from who gets what system. If the systems are the same, it should be first ordered, first gets. I COMPLETELY understand stock vs. BTO. That's not the question. I'm talking about when systems are the same, the person who placed the order first should get theirs first. If you think that is not the way it should work, I'd love to understand why.

Add me to the list of Prepared For Shipment!!!!!

i7 - with Wired Keyboard; everything else stock

Ordered on: Oct 21, 2009 at 06:47 PM PST (Los Angeles, here)
Order # W653xxxx

Prepared for Shipment; Can't Cancel Order

Been watching this thread since its inception and yes, I've ready every post (well, I've skimmed through a lot of them) but I've been faithful...waiting for that one day when the shipping process begins.

And now it looks like it has!!!!

<< A tear is coming down my eye!!!>> LOL!

Apple has a plane full of I7's ready to go to the US with 1 spare spot.

The next order in time is from Australia and they ordered an I7 6 hours before someone in the US.

Where do you think it will go? Logically

Because ultimately Apple has many other things to worry about when shipping orders; i.e. logistics and how to get the most orders on the same shipment heading to the same general area. Don't worry, you will get your computer eventually. They told you it would ship in November, not when it would ship by or that it would be in a certain order. Just hang in there.

Yes, Apple does have a history sending out shipments in which all computers have the exact same configuration and are going to the same country. No doubt the logistics are easier and more efficient that way.

Not to mention having to work around the flight schedules of FedEx/UPS/TNT/DHL...etc.

Wish it was that easy... wish it was true... here's hoping for a miracle! What I am really curious about (besides WHEN IT WILL FINALLY SHIP :D) is how hot the i7 will get after a night-long encoding marathon for HD video... do you guys think the aluminium back of the iMac is nonstick enough for your egg & bacon breakfast to cook on? They must have tested this long enough, right... right?

Hmmm.... all W5746 so far are I7 with 8GB and Australian???

What hard drives? I got 2 TB

My OZ W5746 is only 4GB and 1TB HDD, so pretty much the "stock" i7 and the other 4GB will be self-installed. Those two extra memory modules have been getting pretty lonely for the last 3 weeks...
