Besides, we will very likely see the new iMacs and the refreshed MacBook before a Mac Pro. I expect another sneak peek at WWDC. After all, if they want a nMP to work, they will have to focus a bit more on how to exploit a double GPU configuration.
This is not a good time for an nMP release yet...A few more months and a perfect machine will be born.

32 per 8 core Die.amd Naples may have 64 pci-e lanes per cpu.
Agreed. A WWDC reveal, if not actual launch, seems the most prudent place to do it.
Do you really think that after years of neglect a nice poster will "stem the bleeding"?I'm personally hoping for some indication at NAB, especially if they want to keep what video interests they have that haven't abandoned/jumped ship yet.
Doesn't have to be a teaser or full reveal, even a movie poster/date pointing to wwdc could stem the bleeding.

Its up to motherboard manufacturers to use Alpine Ridge controllers in them. Will Naples support TB3?

I would suspect that many of the people still using Apple gear will be at NAB to explore their options - and if they are "exploring" they've probably realized that a platform change is necessary.
Apple stopped caring about NAB back in 2008, almost 10 years ago. They used to have the biggest booth in the show, now it's a private demo at a hotel somewhere with the FCPX user group.
Honestly, if you're going to NAB to look at gear, you already plan or are planning on getting a PC.
Skylake-W is not mandatory for a nMP, with BDW-EP can be built, as muuch Apple would need to add some PXEs to add PCIe lines. This is not a good time for an nMP release yet.
The right CPUs are not yet available, hope that now with Ryzen Intell will speed up SKL-W Xeons to beat Naples to the punch. On the other hand, they might wait and see how it fares.
GPUs are also a no go now. Not considering NVidia, which seems a given, Vega is still a couple of months away and we're not sure if there will be a Polaris SKU in the entry level nMP, or if it will an all Vega lineup, hopefully the latter with Vega 11 and 10.
Even the Polaris re-spin is a month or so away.
Maybe you missed Mago, but Apple does not care about what you need, but they care about how you experience their platform.Skylake-W is not mandatory for a nMP, with BDW-EP can be built, as muuch Apple would need to add some PXEs to add PCIe lines.
Also Apple could opt for a Single Powerful 300W-class GPU from nVidia, an much better choice than two weak GPU w/o FP64 capabilities from AMD, the thermal core could be adapted for a Single-GPU with two-clicks is not rocket science (just mechanical engineering)
So Apple has no excuses, they didnt update the nMP coz Mac R&D are lazy lack oversigth, and Cook cares only on fashion and media.
If I am forced out of macOS due to poor hardware offerings it won't be difficult for me to move outside of iOS-or at least not feel that I need to upgrade anywhere near as often as I had in the past. Noting how evolutionary iOS updates cripple old devices I'll also stay on older versions to prolong their life. I haven't bought any entertainment media on anything other than iTunes for the more than the last decade-so I'll still have a few AppleTV's around, but outside of those "services" I'm not sure I need Apple. Their the ones pushing many of us out of the ecosystem/platform experience, if I have to spend any more time in Windows then I'll just be off on my way looking at a boxx or HPZ series (really liking the HP Z2 for CAD). Right now I boot camp when needed (really only for Revit, have been using AutoCAD for Mac for the last 3 or 4 years, and Pixelmator instead ignored photoshop primarily to avoid the subscriptions and have found it to be acceptable for my uses) but if I have to go PC for hardware power macOS and I will be parting ways.Maybe you missed Mago, but Apple does not care about what you need, but they care about how you experience their platform.
Regardless if it is iOS, or Mac.

I don't believe user-accessible PCIe slots are coming back to the Mac. In fact, I think there's a greater chance they will disappear from the PC market as well.
