The first amendment protects the right to post nonsense, with some obvious exceptions.

I didn't say that koyoot should not be able to point out every weakness in Nvidia's product, nor that he shouldn't be able to shout out every rumour about ATI's far future GPUs.

But posting stuff without linking to sources is dishonest - it's not a first amendment issue. The phrase "I read somewhere" is just as dishonest as Trump's frequent "people are saying" line.
Maybe I am allowed only to post it here, without giving direct links to quotes?

Two things from all info gathered from there have been correct, lately(small Vega coming this year, and Volta launching next year). What else will be correct? Maybe... everything?
nVidia just released the GTX 1060, 1070 and 1080 for notebooks. Should be within about 10% of their desktop counterparts but at lower tdp. This could end up in Macs, including the Mac Pro tube.
Nvidia right now does not differentiate between their desktop and mobile lineup. Maxwell brought Tile-Based Rasterization which extremely improved efficiency. That is what Nvidia meant with their lineup will be mobile "first". That is the future, guys :)

But a 21" @4K seems odd, and Asus 5K display doesn't tempt me. Apple referring to an Asus display?!
I think apple will no go to a 5K TBD due limited GPU power across the line and because a 5K TB display don't allow enough bandwidth to daisychain another tb3 port (maybe a single channel tb1+usb3 or dual usb3.1)).

look at the latest ASUS ProArt 5K Display to be released SOON by asus its really tempting for me.

If the GPU was built into the display though.. that could be fun :)
No eGPU yet, at least while on intel Platform an eGPU has no sense since u cant split video rendering across multiple gpu on Intel PC platform (that's why you cant use dGPU and iGPU on a laptop at the same time), you have to choose one at time with only TB3 bandwidth available only has sense to switch off the iGPU or dGPU to enforce eGPU on low end macs as the mini or basic mpb which dont have a competent GPU, while on those macs with dGPU on board (as the MP, iMAC and top end rMBP) an eGPU may slowdown the display due TB3 bootleneck (tb3-switched-pcie3 x4 vs direct pcie x8/x16).

Unfortunately these displays, even if they are targeting ProArt people, may be good for general work, but for color critical applications they have a problem with color and luminance uniformity. Of course the resolution is nice to have...

HDR is indeed a must right now for Apple but I have my doubts about OLED for a computer display, there are issues. Good for smartphones maybe, iPhones will get it soon.
Mago, it looks good but I'm not really into Asus. And 32" is a bit too much, 27" is just fine.
And it's still DP and HDMI, not USB Type C as it should be for nMP.
And what I love about Apple and now hate about everyone else in the PC world - the attention to detail. See the grey panel in the back, for the connectivity? Ugly as hell.

Look in the back of a TBD, nice.
Same for most assembled PCs and a Mac, any Mac. Call me whatever you want, but I believe it's what sets them apart.

21" is a bit too small now, I'm not buying a smaller monitor than the one I have now.
And after you see the 27" Retina there's no turning back.
I'm sure if Apple could do the TCON trick on the iMac they surely can also do some magic to have one 27"er on Alt Mode. Imagine a 10b HDR panel designed by Apple - by the way, I still prefer the TBD design over the newer iMac 5K but OK. Awesome!!

Apple don't design display panels, only commissions it to the actual sources: LG/Sharp/Samsung, apple sell us what (sometime in exclusive) those companies sell to Apple.

You should wait an usb-c/dp1.3 version for the Asus ProArt 5K (or an little usb-c_> DP1.3 adapter).

Did you note its color gamut its DCI-P3 its the same as the iPad Pro... ?:D

PD i agree with you, current OLED tech isn't for workstations or anything which is on continuous usage, the best you can spect from an OLED display on 8hr x7x360 service it to be usable by 2 years (usable not optimal).

About the logic to switch the TBD to 21"/4K = it offers to video editors an optimal output display (and cheaper) and to rMB rMBP14 base rMBP16 and mac mini an reasonable display at the max resolution these systems supports.

Actually the 21"/4k TBD and the Asus ProArt are the safest rumors among the all rumorolgy $h1t.

IMHO 32 inch is role for non-scaled resolution and it's so vast like looking at blackboard. Some workflow are better working in actual resolution or if had old program like PS CS6 which doesn't support proper scaling.

If available in my country i prefer larger 4K/5K with actual resolution rather scaled into high dpi mode a.k.a retina...but i stuck with p2415q right now.

Yep can't resist retina mode is very pleasant in my eye with it sharpness and clarity, but when i'm work i'm always set to native resolution. Using retina mode only when browsing check mail etc~

Mago, I know of course Apple doesn't make the panels, I was referring to the display itself. The panel is outsourced. What I meant was that with those specs it would be finally awesome, specially with Apple design.
Yes, I saw the DCI-P3 mentioned and that also reminded me of the iPad. I believe future Apple displays will all be like that.
I agree, the 21"er is nice for laptop and Mini owners but for a desktop, if you have already a bigger monitor, is a no go. But Apple seems to indeed be exiting the monitor world although this 21" seems to take the place of the TBD, if it gets the extra ports. MagSafe should be dead now, with USB-C PD.
If it was at least a 24".

yurc, indeed retina is great for most things, but if you work with media probably you'll need the extra pixels.

PS. Read somewhere (not DarkNetGuy): next Thunderbolt Display to be 4K/21" Apple to resell Asus 5K/usb-c display, only Mac capable to drive a 5K panel in SST will be the MP7,1 thru USB-C DP 1.3 alt mode, also confirms only 4 Thunderbolt 3 ports.

i really don't think apple will ever release another traditional style display.. to me at least, their exit from the market has been stated clearly..

why ,if they plan on releasing TB_display2, would they discontinue the line without a newer model then tell their customers to go buy other brands of displays.
?

they may have something else on the drawing board which displays UI/content but it's highly unlikely to be anything like what you're describing above.

The Apple 30" Cinema HD Display was introduced 12 years ago.
The Cinema lineup were the zenith of display technology and aesthetics at the time
and offered in six different sizes to meet customers differing needs.

I remember setting one up at our new Apple section 10 years ago.
Customers would gather around with their jaws on the floor as we demoed Macs with it.
What a difference 10 years makes.

Look, an emoji.
Thank goodness Apple has better priorities now.

i love the 30" ACD .. had three of them .. wish i never sold them. I really wish apple would bring them or a 32" back.

they probably do in both business sense and user experience..
augmented reality.. VR.. holographic? idk
this all requires next gen tech and i'm pretty sure Apple is doing some of their own R&D/inventing alongside what others are doing in the field.. (as opposed to waiting til it's hot then just buying a company(s) to rebrand as their own)

if any of that speculation is true, i'd personally think they have their priorities straight regarding improving the way we see the data and/or interact with the computers.

So, its D-Day today for me. After a year of walking circles what to do, and in this year of walking around I was wondering what Apple is going to do with there computer line-up, i saw zero changes. So I made my decision, finally. I spent time learning about Windows 10, I spent time learning about different configurations.. the plus, the cons.. and i discovered that there are zero reasons for me than only OSX, to stay with Apple. My only options are old hardware and out dated performance for a very high price. That is not an option. That is stupid.

I just ordered this PC 5 minutes ago:

Windows 10 Pro
ASUS X99-A II
Intel Core i7-6800K / 3.4 GH + good air cooling
32Gb Crucial Ballistix Sport LT DDR4
SSD Samsung 950 Pro M.2 512Gb (super fast!)
SSD Samsung 850 EVO 1TB ( fast bulk stuff )
GTX 1070 8Gb
Corsair K65 keyboard
Corsair RM Series RM550x
Fractal Design Define R5

Cost me 2500 euro including tax & build. So i only have to worry about installing my software. This is a monster and high end. Sorry to leave OSX, the brand Apple is the part i dont care about anymore, just as they dont give a dime. I have to say that i am very very excited to play with my new beast soon that will back me up for a long time and room to keep uit up-to date / future proof.

Good luck with Apple, leaving you in the dark and only having gossips to have some a little bit of faith. I am taking control now for myself! And maybe you should to!

My iMac will stay as 2nd computer and will be used. Also my Macbook Pro is my personal mobile friend for the spare time.

Congratz Roykor, that is one hell of a computer :)

A bit of off-topic here, however.

http://semiaccurate.com/2016/08/17/intel/

Well, SemiAccurate has written what most of industry "really" thought about this ARM deal with Intel. They need to get as much of deals to keep their fabs busy and fed with money, because their own fabs are killing Intel.

X99 and i7-6800K don't match, not compatible it's socket LGA2011-3 vs LGA1151

You are doing God's work by moving away from this company.
I will be doing my part come October once my current assignment finishes.

I'm hoping for a mass exodus post-September so that Apple can teach itself a lesson on how they're marginalizing its most important customers and the ones who made Apple what it is today... the creative industry.
