Maybe part of the whole "modular" thing is ARM chips on blades, add a blade when you need more processing power...?

I truly believe that the main CPU will be an Intel Xeon and not an A-Series / based on ARM architecture. Macobserver's opinion is just that - and almost certainly wrong.

Even in the remote case that Apple would start the transition so early and with the mMP, I don't think they would ever use the same CPU they market for a phone inside a Pro machine. Regardless of how many you stacked together. :)

I love how the fact that they haven't updated the iMac Pro beyond price discounts and new max BTO options must be because of some ARM master plan, and not, you know, that Intel hasn't shipped the replacement -W series chips.

Or that the general iMac iteration cycle has been about 2 (or more) years long over the last several iterations.

Average over those two data points is 626 ( ~ 85% of 2*365 days ). The Mac Pro which the iMac Pro is closer to is in an order of magnitude higher 'slow as molasses in January' refresh rate. Outside of the top end iPhone .... Apple is just generally slow.

Yeesh. Wish I was getting paid to write stuff of this caliber.

For better or worse clickbait articles pay. A decent chunk of the stuff on front page of this site ... bait material too (which generates ad views which generates money ).

At this point I don’t find the average release times all that instructive, especially as the iMac Pro and Mac Pro are part of a renewed strategy on Apple’s part. “Past performance is not indicative of future results” applies now more than ever.

Actually, as I’m sure all of you knew, it was vapour ware mac pro. But now tha I’ve seen the volkswagen tower I’m really digging it!
Vapour Ware is obvious after you point it out, but I was originally as baffled as other readers when I saw the abbreviation.

for a 6k display that no gpu can drive right now ? let alone the fact that no apple machine right now can edit 8k professional raw 12 bit codec...
