Eh.. don't care about the looks as much as I do about ONLY 2 USB ports.. like WTF?! $6k and two USB ports. So after mouse and keyboard, you're on your own I guess. Apple will probably start selling $200 USB PCI cards to go with it.

If "ugly" is the only complaint people can throw at it, the 2019 Mac Pro is a resounding success. :p
No it's not. Apple pride themselves on being at the cutting egde of industrial design. I have no idea what happened with this. It's like the Bentley Bentaga of computers. Hugely powerful but why was it signed off by Stevie Wonder?

I can see a lot of users putting the MP on wheels & hiding it under the desk, and VESA mounting those displays...

The rackmount is intriguing...!

Sad at no Threadripper though...

Now we switch to griping about Apple not giving us the xMac...?

8-core Xeon, 32GB memory, Radeon Pro 580X, 256GB SSD. Starts at $5,999

Jesus christ, that's incredibly expensive for that spec.

Amen, no go ...

Exciting news, but ....

Hope we get more details on storage options soon .

Serious lack of ports as it seems as well .

well well...
apple finally invented : a standard workstation.
(with some extras to plug in which only professional video studios actually need)

so if you forget all those extras, you pay 6000$ for an 8 core single xeon machine.
for the same price you get a windows pc with two 8 core xeons plus 11gb 2080ti

hmm...

An HP Z4 will run you over a grand more and can't match the Mac Pro's specs.

I find the Bentayga to be not that bad-looking.

Now if we're talking Rolls-Royce Cullinan... :p

And seriously, look at the HP Z4 - that is pedestrian industrial design.

Yeah I was a bit confused about the ports, they want to sell you IO cards.

It has slots, simply get an IO card. That was a major stopping point with me with the tcmp.

I'd have moved my eSATA card over to the new MP and plugged in my Mercury Qx2.

Looks good, but the prices are crazy. The base $6000 8-core configuration includes a $200 graphics card and only 256 GB of storage. (My 5GHz all-core 8-core, 2080ti, 32GB ram, 2 tB SSD linux machine cost me less than half that.)

I knew the display would be staggeringly expensive when they compared it to some broadcast monitor. But $5000 plus the insult-on-top-of-injury $1000 just for the display's stand!?

On the point of storage, which was barely mentioned: What are the possibilities for internal storage? Will we STILL be trapped by Apple's proprietary SSD's and their outrageous prices that fly in the face of the plummeting cost of SS storage? It sounds like it given that the base machine is only 256GB.

I'll give you the Z4 thing, but then HP don't make a song and dance about elegance and beauty. Apple do.
The Bentayga should be illegal. It has committed murder and my eyes are the victim.

Oddly short introduction of the MP .

iApps to OSX going on forever , when most of the keynote showed iOS hitting a dead end .

I don't think we'll see internal storage - that's going to be either TB or (with a eSATA card) external. I'm ok with an eSATA card - the one I have is great.

Apple knows most people will purchase that base configuration and DIY upgrade it, let's see what tricked GPU lock includes, BTW at least this time apple heared user's complaints.
