I am missing the Dock. There is no more dock or maybe they are working on it. This is where you would hit the side button and you could have all the apps you used most recently on top.

Maybe I am missing something, but it seems the only way to, for example, read messages is to scroll down to messages in the app list and select it.

Yeah, I think I am going to miss Dock.
Double-pressing the Digital Crown invokes the (non-customizable) Dock.

Watch OS 10 is such a mess I cant believe how bad it is:
1 we have lost one way of handling the watch, swipe from bottom is now same as scrolling up. Scrolling down does nothing.
2 Weather app is totally unlogic, it starts displaying different views depending on how you launch it. You cant set its default view either. You are supposed to klick 5 times before you get to the most interesting view.
3 there is no way of launching certain apps quickly, except keeping them as complications to quicklaunch

iOS 17 battery has been fine for the last several betas.
17 on my phone has been great for at least a few beta’s now as well as the RC. Today’s watch update for me however is pretty horrible.. about 5% an hour on my ultra. I’m sure it’ll get better after a couple days

When I got my Ultra last year, I could use the Wayfinder face and get about 30%battery drain each day. When OS10 came out, it went down to 40-50% battery drain per day. It never improved as the betas rolled along. I recently switched to the Modular Ultra face but took all of the complications off and it seems to have fixed the battery life but I hate not having all the info on there. Does anyone else still use the Wayfinder face and get better than 40% battery drain each day? I really don’t want to keep using the one I am now.

I suspect part of why the new one sucks is because none of the 3rd party apps are updated yet. Not happy, but have to give it time.
Third part apps do show up already. You might be talking about the widget view? That is different to what was spoken about above by pushing the Digital Crown twice.

Anyone else having issues with the current location not working in the Weather app? This issue was fixed for me previously during the betas but after doing a restore on the RC this has returned for me.

Just kidding. By the evening I was down to 60% again so it doesn’t seem to matter what face I am using. Weird.

How does one add apps to that piece?
Which one are you talking about? The widget view or the double press of the Digital Crown?
If it's the widget view right now you will not have third party apps available as apple will not approve updated apps until the new os is released.
If it's pushing the Digital Crown twice you have to have opened an app for it to appear in that view.

To be fair to Apple, I think it’s pretty clear that signing up to betas will have its drawbacks for users and they can’t be a surprise to people. For all you know, all your app developers might have widget options for your favourite apps ready to launch.

It seems a little unreasonable to be quite so agitated at Apple when you’ve decided to jump on software a week before release date, particularly when the UI changes have been publicised on their website and in a lengthy keynote. You’ll see chat about battery life and some glitchy stuff throughout this thread but most of that chat has recognised that this kind of thing is part and parcel of the process.

1. Control panel was an absolute nightmare to invoke when running in the rain for example. Removing the clumsy swipe up gesture and replacing with a button press is amongst the most pleasing updates in this release.
3. I’m confident widget view will do this better once app developers update their apps. You can remove anything you don’t like and it’s one less step to access as you don’t have to press a button and then scroll through your apps.

It’s worth just using the new UI for a little bit before offloading. I think the watch is better for it. I’ve owned an Apple Watch in various forms since launch day and this is the best it has been.
