Watch OS 10 is such a mess I cant believe how bad it is:
1 we have lost one way of handling the watch, swipe from bottom is now same as scrolling up. Scrolling down does nothing.
2 Weather app is totally unlogic, it starts displaying different views depending on how you launch it. You cant set its default view either. You are supposed to klick 5 times before you get to the most interesting view.
3 there is no way of launching certain apps quickly, except keeping them as complications to quicklaunch
The weather app launching is odd to me as well - Would like the view with current weather and temperature etc. all in one every time.

Also apps like the meditation app - I use the breathing every day in an ice bath, but never the meditation or register my mind - why can't I get the breathing up top instead of below the two others? or deactivate the others?

When I got my Ultra last year, I could use the Wayfinder face and get about 30%battery drain each day. When OS10 came out, it went down to 40-50% battery drain per day. It never improved as the betas rolled along. I recently switched to the Modular Ultra face but took all of the complications off and it seems to have fixed the battery life but I hate not having all the info on there. Does anyone else still use the Wayfinder face and get better than 40% battery drain each day? I really don’t want to keep using the one I am now.
Without any specific details - I feel like my battery drain is way worse as well - Could go two days when I got the ultra, but now need to charge it (sometimes not much but need to) almost daily
1. Control panel was an absolute nightmare to invoke when running in the rain for example. Removing the clumsy swipe up gesture and replacing with a button press is amongst the most pleasing updates in this release.
3. I’m confident widget view will do this better once app developers update their apps. You can remove anything you don’t like and it’s one less step to access as you don’t have to press a button and then scroll through your apps.

It’s worth just using the new UI for a little bit before offloading. I think the watch is better for it. I’ve owned an Apple Watch in various forms since launch day and this is the best it has been.
This is good - was running yesterday and it started raining - To be able to quick press the button while running and activate the water lock was easier than before.

It's not just me then with the Weather app! This annoys me every time. I have the temperature as a complication and previously it used to take you straight to the weather time wheel. This was one press to see what the temperature would be for the next 12 hours but now it just loads up the current temperature, the exact same thing I can see in the compilation, just bigger. What exactly is the purpose in this screen?

Yes you can scroll down to the next page to get the weather wheel but this is one more step than before. They really should by default take you to the weather wheel for whatever complication you have (condition, temperature etc.) and add a button to take you straight to the main weather summary at all times.

For those tapping through all the metrics there is now a menu in the top right to select which one you want.

To be fair to Apple, I think it’s pretty clear that signing up to betas will have its drawbacks for users and they can’t be a surprise to people. For all you know, all your app developers might have widget options for your favourite apps ready to launch.

It seems a little unreasonable to be quite so agitated at Apple when you’ve decided to jump on software a week before release date, particularly when the UI changes have been publicised on their website and in a lengthy keynote. You’ll see chat about battery life and some glitchy stuff throughout this thread but most of that chat has recognised that this kind of thing is part and parcel of the process.
I understand how the beta process works, and recognize the fact that apps cannot be updated using the new SDK until Apple allows it (typically in the time between the release of the RC and the GA versions).

I also understand (and have no problem with) the fact that bugs, glitches and stuff like battery hits are possible, even probable, in the betas... that stuff doesn't bother me... I don't typically put the beta on my phone before about beta 5, and this is the first time I have ever put a beta on my watch, primarily because of the hassle of restoring my watch (send it to Apple)...

All of this means that I don't need anyone to explain the pitfalls of running beta software on my daily driver devices. But I can still be frustrated by some of Apple's choices for UI changes.

My biggest issue with OS10 is the way the calendars behave. What purpose does the "Your Schedule" complication serve now? Then when you press it, you only get to see the next event. You have to press the back button at the top to get a list of all upcoming events.

Using current watch beta. I have an Ultra and having issue with the new Ultra watch faces in iOS 17 beta RC.
I customize the Ultra watch face in the Watch app, but it will not show on my watch.
The app will tell me it’s my current watch face, but it just won’t show up.

I apologize if this isn’t the correct spot. My watched shows it was charged to 100% at 6:30am now at 8:30am it’s already down to 68%. It’s never gotten this low this quick before. I’m running watchOS 10.0. And 17 on phone.

Is it me or has Apple removed the swipe left/right to change the watch face? It's not working on my S7
I've been on the beta since July. I've submitted at least a dozen reports about this "feature" handicapping the user experience. For me, this was the operating system and the single best aspect of even having an Apple Watch to begin with. Without an exaggeration, I will not be able to live with using this version of WatchOS.

Yeah I get that this is an unwelcome change although I found the swipe a little unreliable if I’m being honest. There was a knack to making it work (it was more a drag or a pull than a swipe) which I found cumbersome but you kind of got use to. But long pressing and then swiping… it’s not too awful is it? You guys are talking as if someone just arrived and smashed your watch with a hammer.

How often did you change faces per day anyway that you can’t cope with that extra half second followed by a more reliable swiping gesture? I have a ‘running’ watch face that triggers when I wake up which auto changes via shortcuts to another more minimal watch face when I arrive at work. Other than that I just change faces when I get bored which might be every few weeks.

Rotating the crown a little slowly used to turn the screen red for night vision preservation. No longer works. I assume because they changed crown operations in the Beta. No idea how to do it now if even still possible. Maybe not a lot of people used it. I do.

Not an ultra user but my understanding is that this has been removed in favour of it auto changing based on ambient light.

Well, yes, you can choose wether it changes with do not disturb or on or off. It needs to be set at the configuration of the whole watch face. I don t like that missing feature either.

Thank god it’s not just me. Weather on the watch is so buggy. It doesn’t even match the forecast shown on the phone.

Other than that, I hate that there’s a whole button for something I never use now… control centre. I’d rather it bring up widgets.

It was moved there to solve a fairly major usability issue. The previous method of accessing the control centre (hold and swipe up) was extremely difficult to use when running in the rain for example. I use the control centre a lot when running for doing stuff like activating water lock, checking my battery level and switching off cellular if it’s looking like my battery isn’t going to make it through the run.

You can’t really use the crown for that as the crown needs to be active during run to navigate between info screens. The crown, on the other hand is great for accessing widgets or Smart Stack because you often have to scroll through them anyway so why introduce the need to press a button to activate and then scroll?

I had it happen 3 times now since i ran the release candidate that my Watch was under 5% around 8pm. Never happened before.

My Series 4(!) is at 100% every morning (6am) - sometimes I finish the day (10pm) at 30%+, sometimes I have to charge it around 6pm. I haven't found what I doing differently from day to day to cause the discrepancy.

My series 5 LTE (replaced by Apple 9 months ago, so quite « young ») has also big battery issues.
I estimate the loss at around 30% compared to watchOS 9
I am running watchOS 10RC, I have tried to unpair, connect as a new watch, configure from scratch, nothing helps.
I am waiting for my Ultra 2, but I would like to sort out this issue before.
I don’t think Apple ca push un update that kills the battery like that

I tried searching, but can’t seem to figure out the proper terms.

On watchOS 9, I could begin a traditional strength training workout, swipe over, tap +, and switch to outdoor run

On watchOS 10, the + is gone. If I tap the name of the workout, I can select outdoor run. However, this seems weird and counterintuitive.

Am I missing something?

I have the same issue. And there’s a blank spot where the plus button should be.
