I’m really liking the modular ultra watch face. Lots of different options with this one.

I’m waiting for the public release for Watch OS10, but from everyone’s photos I’m loving the new faces: Snoopy is adorable, Gradient looks cool, Nike Global looks like a Kraftwerk album cover (ie, very cool), Solar Analogue also very nice and the new Ultra Modular will probably replace old Modular as my default workout face. That’s five new faces! All of which I can see myself using! Nice work, Apple (& Nike)!

Just updated my watch... first time ever running beta on my watch... hate the loss of the dock, and apparently these "widgets" or "glances" require the app developer to update their app, and Apple is not yet accepting iOS 17 apps... so my crap is screwed... guess I am not doing the beta on my watch again. Thanks, Timmy.

You couldn’t wait a week?

Updated to beta as well, dont like it. I used the shurtcut to apps all the time, now its gone.
My ultra watchface is always red, cant switch anymore, have to change it to never red.

Thanks. It seems a good face for a classy watch.

I'm sure that I could have... but I didn't. And what would waiting a week accomplish? Will things magically fix themselves? Does the dock come back?

No. But the fact that you’ve installed the beta isn’t really the issue. What you’ve installed is the release candidate so barring any last minute issues, it’ll be the same software that’s released next week.

For what it’s worth, in my opinion, the new software is a solid but modest improvement on the previous version.

What it would accomplish is the ability for you to install those apps that would utilise the widgets that you complained about in your post.

Can any of you beta testers confirm whether or not the new "Double Tap gestures" feature is exclusive to Series 9 and Ultra 2?

Yes, I know Apple has in no uncertain terms said that it's a SiP 9 feature. But I see some beta testers on reddit saying everyone running WatchOS 10 is getting it.

Any on of Ultra and Series 8 owners using the new Double Tap gestures in WatchOS 10?

I'd also like to know whether or not AssitiveTouch gesture controls and the simplified "quick actions" gesture controls are getting removed from Accessibility in WatchOS 10?

I see a lot of speculation and would appreciate if any of you would clear up the confusion.

Thank you!

It's exclusive for S9 SiP.
But you can use double tap gestures in Asstive Touch.

Okay, that was what I suspected.

Good that they're not removing AssistiveTouch on older models.

I have a friend who's missing most of their one hand and they would have to use their face or nose to interact with they Watch if AssistiveTouch wasn't there. Realistically, they'd just never update beyond WatchOS 9.

The issue has nothing to do with when I installed the RC, which, in all probability will be the GA release... the issue is that Apple, once again in their all-knowing way, changed up the interface. It would have been true if I installed it yesterday or next week or next year. I don't care for the new design, but as per usual, customer be damned, Apple knows best.

You are suggesting that the change was forced upon you. But the changes were well publicised and you could have stayed on Watch OS 9. Also, Apple would downgrade the OS if they were asked earlier. Not sure they will at this point.

EDIT(Was Answered Below). Thanks all.

can you run Watch OS10 on a phone with ios 16? With all the ios17 battery woes im not sure I want to update my phone.

Thanks

Not possible, unfortunately. You can do vice versa, run ios 17 on the phone, and keep watchOS9 on your watch, which is what I'm doing currently, but you cannot do the inverse of this.

iOS 17 battery has been fine for the last several betas.
I keep reading both sides. Some say they are getting 3-4 hours on a Pro Max. Others 10. I get about 10 on my 13PM on the current ios 16 release. I hope it stays that way with 17

The first several betas were quite rough, bus once July turned to August, it was clear that they were optimizing for power consumption. Yesterday the RC was dropped, which is the same release that will be shipped on Monday. Battery life isn't going to improve from that.

TLDR - Watch and iOS betas are done. If you want to jump on them now, you'll be fine. Or wait til Monday.
