The newest one, TenFourFox-FPR32SP5-i386.zip that is.
BTW, this version is also the final one.

Got it thanks, and it's working fine side by side with Arctic Fox, and I've also downloaded the version of Chrome that still works with 10.6.8. ? It's only InterWeb and SpiderWeb where input fails for typing, don't know why.

Im not entirely sure, but you might be on to something there. Still odd that AF works fine though. It also might be that spiderweb and interweb have been linked to libcxx where AF doesnt require that to run on 10.6.
If FF legacy has the same issue, then thatd be my guess.
Cheers

Here's what works and what doesn't:

  1. InterWeb - can't type in address or search fields
  2. SpiderWeb - ditto
  3. Safari - functions at a basic level but most sites are a waste of time
  4. Opera (25) - so slow it's not worth using
What seems to work pretty well:

  1. Arctic Fox
  2. TenFourFox
  3. Chrome 49
Probably Firefox 48 still functions to some extent, but with TFF Intel and ArcticF working, FF itself seems redundant.

InterWeb 60.9.6 is released. I've added TLS 1.3 support to this release.

Changes from 60.9.5: https://github.com/wicknix/InterWebSnow/compare/60.9.5...60.9.6

TLS 1.3! Woohoo!

Almost got to the end of the compile (for 64-bit, because I’m ornery)… then got an “error 2” build failure before realizing I’d forgotten to comment out the CROSS_COMPILE flag. So now round 2 compile is underway. If successful, I may try a “fat binary” of both i386 and x86_64 together — which for that probably means not commenting out that flag. :)

Thank you for doing constantly amazing stuff.

Most people know this already, but here's another way to have up to date browsers on our dated OS X's.
VirtualBox is free, and so is Linux. The lighter weight, the better. I chose Q4OS with Trinity desktop.
Works great for those occasional stubborn websites (or security for banking, ebay, etc without rebooting).

Hi there, I'm new to Virtualbox and also have Snow Leopard. Can you tell me how you set this up? I keep on getting errors or black screen. Thanx.

InterWeb 60.9.7 is released. Updated tzdata, tld's, and pins, taken from ESR 91, and started removing some mozilla & google "phone home" links. Also added a few more extensions in the zip archive.

I had to rebuild my toolchain (unrelated to Interweb), so getting everything just right again ended up being a devil of a time. Once everything was working correctly, however, this build of Interweb completed in about 60 per cent of the time that it took to build either of 60.9.6 or 60.9.5. Is this faster build a by-product of some of the stuff you got rid of?

Once you create a new "machine" click settings and adjust your ram, video card ram, etc. Then for the hard drive section click the little +cdrom icon and select the .iso for your linux as a boot device. It should now boot from the virtual cdrom.

Hard to say. My MacPro builds these browsers in 9-10 minutes, so i never noticed. ;)

:whistles: Ten minutes. Just… wow.

The difference on this end — a 2.6GHz C2D — is .5 and .6 built in the neighbourhood of around 200–240min, whereas .7 built in “just” 109 minutes (which was relatively “fast”).

It works like a charm, though, and that’s what counts.

That's twelve cores plus hyperthreading vs. a measly non-hyperthreaded dual-core for you. :)

:kicks the dirt: aw shucks, I’m just a common folk here with my slothbook, once the fastest laptop in Apple’s stable.

Honestly, it would be dynamite to see a Core iX CPU running inside a pre-unibody 17-inch container, as I’ve come to really love this form factor as a daily driver (especially so its silver keys with that gentle, bevelled curve on the edges).

The last few years my c2d macbook was the build machine. That averaged 180 minutes per build. My jaw dropped when i first built on the MP. I thought it was a build error at first. Lol.

You know, a few days ago a 2011 17" loaded with 16 GB RAM, an SSD and an unsurprisingly dead AMD GPU, sold for 120 bucks on eBay. At that price, I might have been willing to look past that and enjoy what's left of the machine after disabling said GPU.

There's only one thing that beats raw processing power: more raw processing power.

If I can find a late 2011 like that locally for sub-CAD$200 — bonus if it has the anti-glare display — then I’ll be on it and I’ll be plenty okay with running it on the iGPU (it’s not like I have a veritable storehouse of external Thunderbolt and DVI displays like, well, you). The late 2011 is basically the last 17-inch laptop in my want-to-get list, and it’s the only laptop I can see becoming the next daily driver in my laptop collection (because, of course, it will run Snow Leopard).

The one I didn’t get had the glossy display so I’m telling myself I didn’t get it because of that LOL. Just gotta find a good excuse! :D

Touché. :) I’d need to hook up an external GPU via Thunderbolt for my displays anyway.

Sorry for the double reply, but i'm home from work and can give a better tutorial on how to set up virtualbox.

Create a new "machine" and select what fits it best. Most distros are Debian based, so choose that.
step2.png

Set your virtual machines ram. Be careful here. If you only have 2gb of ram, set this to 1gb max. You still need ram for the "real" machine to use. (I have 64gb of ram so i have a lot to spare for my virtual machine in this example)
step3.png

Adjust your video card ram. Again, be careful here as it takes away from the actual systems ram. 8mb will be fine for web browsing. Make sure to check "enable 3d acceleration" also.
step4.png

Choose your boot device. To get started we boot from a live linux .iso. This will let you boot into a live system, or the installer.
Click the +cdrom icon, then select your .iso. (once you install the system, remove this .iso as a boot device or it will always boot the .iso and not your installed system.
step5.png

step6.png

Set up your network (virtual ethernet) device. I find the pcnet-FAST II or III works best.
step7.png

Set up a shared folder if you want to be able to share files between snow leopard and linux.
step8.png

If all went well, you'll end up with something like this.

My 2011 iMac would (and once did) run Snow Leopard, but now runs Mavericks. However I can still run Snow Leopard using a Parallels VM (for which you need S.L.Server as it won't run any 'normal' OS prior to Lion). However, the sticking point for you may be that you have to pay for Parallels? There are several earlier versions of Parallels and VMWare on eBay which might suit the main OS you're running. HOWEVER... do be aware that you can't install the regular Snow Leopard on these as Apple made them block anything except the server version prior to Lion. And perhaps Virtual Box has a similar limitation? In which case you're snookered...
