I haven't shot much in the last two years but the bug is starting to bite again. This has been posted before but it is my favorite photo from 2018.

Definitely remember it from an old contest. Loved the composition.

3. January. I fear the masochist is hiding. Can't blame him. Great entries.
Thanks to all for submitting photos this week.
@CmdrLaForge - gorgeous photo, I love how the sun reveals texture and the horizontal flow of alternating sun/shadows.
@Hughmac - this has a surreal touch to it, the triangular island leads me to the front of the photo then the split streams lead me back. I’m not sure where I went but I know I travelled somewhere.
@Darmok N Jalad - it’s satisfying when you take a shot that doesn’t need any post processing. Strange flowers, drooping in the sun.
@hbruss - nice aperture choice, and I like how the sky colours are slightly amplified on the black vehicle.
@Robotti - looks like a fun photo shoot, great facial expression.
@mollyc - this shot certainly portrays your story, I feel layers of protection between that quiet place and the rest of the world.
@E3BK - great photo, geometrically pleasing, bright and contrasting colours.
@themumu - I like the juxtaposition of the powerful, lively waters and the dry, almost delicate land.
@Alexander.Of.Oz - jaw dropping!
@fcortese - I like how naturally my eyes wander around, approaching the building then going in and up. Crisp, contrasting and colourful.
@Apple fanboy - this is a great shot, well balanced and just the right exposure time.
@Janichsan - I really like this, the warp of the right side building adds some cool depth.
@inkmich - wow love how the bold architectural/industrial feel gets completely balanced by a little tiny bit of nature.
@swifty168 - very nice, I think the depth of field is spot on.
@oblomow - classic capture with wide appeal – you could be almost anywhere in the world.
@someoldguy - great photo, leaves me feeling misty.
@tizeye - lovely image, it has a rustic renaissance feel to it with the wood/cement and flower colours.
@malofx - kapow what a shot, love everything about it. I suspect a lot of planning involved in this one.
@mopatops - welcome aboard, great submission. I think you captured the tones and contrast very well.
@deep diver - thanks for sharing your story, beautiful photo. I love the dynamic environment of a good sunrise.
@stillcrazyman - nice shot, I blinked first. Yes that cat is in charge.
@crf8 - nature at it’s best. I like the vertical range you selected.
@anotherscotsman - gorgeous image, I like how the dock and railing lead me different places. Love the tones. Fantasic!
@Donka - I think your favourite photo can rightfully be called your best. Great tones and focus.
@akash.nu - great photo, looks like they’re marching into Armageddon.
@soulreaver99 - nice pic.
@Laird Knox - wow love this shot. Makes me feel like I’m on a 1940’s film set.
THIRD – @malofx
SECOND – tie between @inkmich and @anotherscotsman
FIRST – @Alexander.Of.Oz
Congrats!
Actually looking back I did have a few that I liked. What I liked about this shot was it was quiet and early and I had all the time I needed to play with my settings. As opposed to there were people around and I felt rushed. Also the fact that I got up early and actually headed out somewhere rather than just thinking about it! (thanks for the reminder @Hughmac)

Thanks @gaswerks for doing a stellar job with the theme & also with the adjudication! That was a stellar effort to give comments to everyone like that! I'm stunned, but glad you enjoyed my image, birds & animals in long exposure images are something I am exploring more.
Congrat's to the podium placers @malofx @inkmich & @anotherscotsman & also to all those that shared an image in this year wrap-up extravaganza!
I'll be heading out in a second, but will think about an appropriate theme for the next round whilst out & about the place.
Thanks Ken. It’s not me that makes it good. It’s the Nikon quality! And you have plenty of good images you could have posted!OK, so, anyone EVER suggests we are not a serious photography forum, point them at this. Sorry, I didnt participate as I was just consumed by family stuff and a lack of confidence against this set of images.
Fantastic submissions from everyone. Loved them all and a worthy set of podium winners. Stand outs for me were the @Laird Knox, @someoldguy and @Donka entries.
Just superb everyone! One question.... How are we going to top this in 2019? Game on...
Great judging @gaswerks a brave subject but superbly executed.
Happy 2019.

Mate, this picture is firm irrefutable proof that you need to get your butt out more with the camera... I love this image.

Well done, worthy winner.... I love the sense of peacefulness that comes through from your images....

Sorry folks for the delays, I haven't been around & won't be able to get a new round up until about another 9 hours time. It's almost bedtime now, after a very long day. If that's too long to wait, by all means get @inkmich or @anotherscotsman to rustle up something for you all.

Nelson, NV - You normally can't shoot out there at night but I was invited along on a field trip with the CSN Night Photography class. It's a fun place to shoot - day or night.Joshua Tree?
