I really can't get over how gorgeous the S7 screen is. Not that iPhone screens are terrible, but since I have been playing around with a S7 I purchased, I just sometimes stare in awe at the screen.

I'm in the same boat as you in that I can't stand the bloatware and that I can't delete or hide the useless apps that I will never use.
I bought a US unlocked S7 Edge back in January. It doesn't have all the bloat but it is slower at getting the updates. All the carrier version have Nougat when the US unlocked version doesn't.

Appreciate the heads up. Since the S7 I purchased is the Verizon version, it should have Nougat available to download.

I personally can only speak for the V20 as it's the only LG phone I've had. But I haven't had any boot loop issues and performance has been very stable and quick. The only issue is onscreen battery life is subpar.

If the G6 is anything like or better than the V20, then I wouldn't worry.

yeah, based on all I've seen online, the only issues were with the G4 and G5. the V20 seems to be "immune" (so far). I had a V20 for a month or so and had no issies, either.

I would have waited for the S8 - don't see the point in buying the old one a few weeks before its successor comes out.

I switched to Android with the Note 3 for a two year period. It was great in the beginning but the experience got worse with time and I ended up buying an 8000mAH battery for that power hungry sucker. I longed for an iPhone and now I still own the 6S+ that I bought well over a year ago. I tried Samsung and had a pretty meh experience all in all. Some things are truly great, but the overall package is way more refined on the apple side of things is my experience when it comes to both mobile and computer.

I'm only interested in devices that last me at least two years without any problems. Apple has yet to disappoint me.

I used it when it was brand new and people claimed then, like now, that android and specifically Samsung is superior in many ways. I compared it to my even older iPhone 5 and actually went back to the iPhone a few times because of bugs. From what I've heard, many of the bugs are still there and I hear a lot of people complaining that their S7 is slowing down and the battery is degrading very fast. I don't think it's worth paying the premium to have a phone that doesn't live up to the quality that I expect.

So at risk of repeating myself, you are using memories of an ancient device to compare. This is awesome. Stop using anecdotal evidence, it's normally incorrect..
Oh, and can you tell me some examples of these many bugs you speak about. I have yet to encounter a single one . Just my experience of course. But I'll try and find one if I know where to look.

My experience is my own and not anyone else's. I know that it's an older device and can't compare with the newer ones, and that too is a little weird when you've used iPhone for a few years. Even if Samsung phones was so inconsistent, people still said it was the best phone ever made (Note 3). It was far from it.

Like I said, inconsistent battery life and a phone that slows down with time is still the norm with Samsung phones. Nothing you say will change that because you seem biased, as every phone has bugs but some are clearly bigger than others.

FYI my 6S+ is quite ancient by today's standards as well, but it works like a new phone. Same can be said about my iPhone 5 and 3GS when they had their one year anniversary. The consistency is in my personal experience far better.

Instead of the S7 Edge, a better option would be the LG G6 for a cheaper price. $670 vs $700. Plus a very small bezel with a 5.7 inch screen. The phone is about the same size as the S7 Edge.
The Galaxy S8's screen is bigger than the G6's at 5.8", but both phones are the same height and the Galaxy S8 is narrower.

All three phones (S8, S7 Edge, and G6) are about the same height, but only the S8 is noticeably narrower than the S7 Edge.

You are using a note 3 as a benchmark, to suggest how poor samsungs are, then you accuse me of bias. Brilliant... it was April fools day yesterday fella lol

We still use Note 3 and Note II as secondary devices and have no issue. As a matter of fact, I've posted screen shots showing uptimes of 3000 to 4000 hours (almost half a year) without a reboot so the claim that Samsung slows down over time is a myth.

Slow down is from micro SD card degrading. Fix for that is don't buy cheap or fake ones. People tend to buy the cheapest SD card then blame the phone. For those not tech savvy enough to research good SD cards from bad/fake ones, Samsung has been bundling their own so it's a non-issue.

Reception affect battery life since the radio has to work harder and stay active longer. That happened more when I was on Sprint but rarely happens since switching to Verizon.

A lot of us here use both iOS and Android devices so we know reality from myth.

This sort of common sense post isn't really wanted round these parts my friend!!!!

Can you make up some rubbish that basically slags off android and Samsung regardless of the actual truth of the matter. You will get lots of likes and make new friends all at the same time. Yay!!

I made the switch to an S7 edge last December. Pretty smooth change. Getting everything to sync with the home Macs and the wife's IPhone took a little work, but I found a program called CalDav-Sync which took care of it. Four months in and no slowdowns or problems. I find Android 7 to be more stable than what the phone came with. I bought it used for a good price.

You got the s7 right before the s8 came out....logic

Well let's see. For me personally, I paid $300 for my like new S7 Edge. There is no way I would have bought a brand new Samsung phone when I am testing the waters of making the switch from IOS. Also, I usually do not buy phones the minute they come out. I like to wait and make sure there are no problems. I did get the IPhone 5 the day it was released, but that was the only one. My life has not been affected at all by not having the newest phone the minute it's available.

Enjoy. I could only last 5 months with my 7S Edge before it got really laggy. Plus rarely got any updates through the carrier. Pretty sad that Nougat has been out since August, and the Edge just got updated this month, nearly 7 months later.
Or you could look at it this way. Google update their apps weekly, so you are always up to date, unlike Apple which may not update their apps for years.

At the iPhone hacks section.

Hm let me think. Do i want to keep getting operating system iOS updates and security and other improvements in a timely manner for over 5-6 years? Or get fast updates on a few Apple AppStore apps that I might not even have installed or use?
Or get stuck with an android os that will never get any updates and be outdated soon and with tons of app fragmentation?
Hard decision :D

Or look at it another way. You could have very poorly implemented apps (Siri and Apple Maps). Or get yearly updates that brick your iphone. That's always fun. Or get updates on 3 year old iphones that essentially make them useless. LOL (I have yet to see an iphone that is 5 years old (iphone 4S) running iOS10.) A bit of an exhaggeration on your part.

It's all in jest dude. There are pluses and minuses to both OS's.

*Sigh* you're jumping to conclusions the moment I mention the older Samsung phone. I even compare it with the even older iPhone and still you get stuck on me using an old Samsung as benchmark. You are pretty biased yes because you can't even listen to reason. Let's end this discussion here as it won't lead anywhere.
