Or look at it another way. You could have very poorly implemented apps (Siri and Apple Maps). Or get yearly updates that brick your iphone. That's always fun. Or get updates on 3 year old iphones that essentially make them useless. LOL (I have yet to see an iphone that is 5 years old (iphone 4S) running iOS10.) A bit of an exhaggeration on your part.

It's all in jest dude. There are pluses and minuses to both OS's.

Lol :D
Now you're pulling for straws.
I dont have any problems with Siri or Maps. And I haven't got an ios update that bricked my iPhone since the ios 3 days.
But even if the OTA update goes wrong you can always plug in to itunes and restore/update using that. Unless never getting an update is considered better :D
The Iphone 5 was released in September 2012 and is still supported by Apple with ios 10. 4-5 months off is not an exaggeration, your assumptions are though ;)

Same ongoing like almost every thread, Apple fanbois (Yeah fanbois) entering and keep on bringing 5 year old "arguments" why OP will be "back"...
It really does bother some here when someone changes from an idevice to something else. I don't quite understand really it's like they take it as a personal insult or something like that.

I think people should just use whatever phone they like the best...no matter what platform it is on....

Well let's see. For me personally, I paid $300 for my like new S7 Edge. There is no way I would have bought a brand new Samsung phone when I am testing the waters of making the switch from IOS. Also, I usually do not buy phones the minute they come out. I like to wait and make sure there are no problems. I did get the IPhone 5 the day it was released, but that was the only one. My life has not been affected at all by not having the newest phone the minute it's available.

If you would've waited till the s8 came out you could've saved more. ./shrug

So the iPhone 5 got a decent run with timely updates for around 5 years.
Can you say that for Android? :D
Technically, I can. Nexus 4 can still be updated to the latest updates, should I wish to. Nice thing about Nexus devices are the great XDA devs out there to keep the updates flowing.

But realistically, I wouldn't expect any phone to run well after 4 years. Especially phones with non-removable batteries. I also buy new phones every year, so this sort of debate is moot to me. I don't care if I buy a new phone and it never gets updated again.
I suppose if you are very poor and can only afford 1 phone every 4 years, then maybe the iPhone is for you. (Assuming Apple doesn't brick your phone during one of their updated. LOL)

I agree.
Nexus and a few other devices do get updates for Android but that's a very small percentage out of the hundreds of different Android headsets out there that never get a software update.
About slow downs with OS updates after 3-4 years I can see where either iphone or android wouldn't run as smooth as before and that's why I tend to update my hardware every few years or so. ;)

OK...

Repeat after me... I like iOS because I like it, it works well with all my other crap and nothing anyone says will change that.

And those that want the newest OS buy Nexus' and Pixels' the rest that just want a phone that works and have have their updates come through the play store buy *other* it's not particularly complicated. We're all adults we all make decisions based on known factors and nobody in tech is duped. You like what you like, I like what I like, and they like what they like it's really unbelievably simple. I'm big fan of Jim Beam, you're not going to convince me that George Dickel or Jack Daniels is better. I like the heck out of Bushmills you're really not going to convince me that Jameson is better. I dislike scotch you not going to convince me that scotch is good no matter how long it's aged or what barrels it's aged in. We all like what we like whether tech, food or booze we can secretly think the other is a classless, tasteless, dolt but minds are not going to be changed.

My wife's Iphone 5 died. I gave her my 6 and got the S7 edge. Waiting until the S8 comes out was not an option and I doubt my savings would have been much if anything.

Seems like 5/5s/5c are still supported. Perhaps not with iOS 11 in the future, but for now and the next number of months it appears that they are not dropped from updates (not to mention that not getting a new iOS version does't really mean EOL anyway).

I'm very tempted to move from iPhone to Android. More so than I have ever been. My last Android personal phone was the Galaxy S2. From that point forward I had the iphone. Whichever one was the newest.

My work then issued me a Galaxy S4 which got me reacquainted with Android and when the upgrade came for that phone they upgraded me to a Galaxy S7.

The S7 has really made me think about switching my 6s plus to a Galaxy S8. I'm understanding the software and the phone is gorgeous ... My only problem is getting the Galaxy S8 then Apple coming with something mind blowing with the iphone 8. Only thing is they will have to HUGELY step there game up for it to be too impressive.

The S7 was absolutely gorgeous and now the S8 and S8+ has perfected Samsung's design game.

I'm in serious limbo.

10.3.2 doesn't support 64bit, right? So no iPhone 5 will get any further updates. And iPhone 5 series are no longer sold. Ergo, EOL?

Now that is flat out ridiculous!! Lol
Do u know u have extra windows to move app folders to?
That was the point. The post i referenced was talking about how hideous the home screen was on an Android device. Obviously, either phones home screen can be made to look nicer.

Since when does (unreleased) iOS 10.3.2 doesn't support 32-bit devices?
