Getting Closer...

Just about to head out for my 5 mile walk and did a final check of the status.

Nov 13, 2009 9:09 AM
At local FedEx facility
WEST YARMOUTH, MA

FWIW....The iMac passed about 1.3 miles from my house as it made its way to exit 7 where the local FedEx facility is located. About 11 miles from exit 3 where I am located. I could feel it in the force.....

Now I am totally loosing it!

One more satisified Flight84 member....

I spent 7 years in Hilton Head... had many great times in Savannah...

My brother lived in Reno for several years and I made a hiking trip out to Zion and hit Vegas for a couple of nights-talk about from one extreme to another! Would love to make a trip back out that way!

Great thread and good luck to all Flight 84 comrades...I have a feeling everyone will get theirs today! Hang in there!

It's sitting in my house while I'm stuck at work.
Since I can no longer track anything, WHAT AM I GOING TO DO???

OK - did Apple hook us all up with overnight delivery? Sure seems so. God I couldn't love them more. AND, while I've spent most of my time here & on the 'waiting' thread, my quick glances indicate these i7's are exceeding expectations.

When it arrives, I'm going to let it come to room temp while I take a shower. Maybe put on some perfume for the unboxing ceremony.

Congrats! You really made this fun for everyone. I'm loving every minute of using my new i7. Like I said, mine was overnight delivery, but I didn't expect it. The truck driver from Indy to my town had to be doing 80+ MPH according to the scan times.

and all of my ridiculous posts about this have taken me out of forum newbie status ;)

Another thanks for starting this thread....

This reminds me of Oceanic Flight 815. Maybe we will all wake up on an island shaped like an iMac....

I have to go out for a walk......

Update... Now on FedEx Truck for Delivery. 9:09 AM, just 6 minutes after it arrived at the local FedEx facility. Have to give it to these people...

Are you frickin kidding me?! I thought maybe some sort of flight disaster happened so I clicked into this thread only to find out it's about hyper-anticipation for iMac deliveries.

LOL! Love the ceremonial aspect! Gotta live vicariously through all of you for (hopefully) a few hours more.

My status still says Departed from Oakland at 12:55am. Here in LA so hopefully getting a status change soon. C'mon LA FedEx staff...time to rise and shine and bring home the i7s!!! :D

Least going to the gym will be a nice break from clicking the refresh button on the status page!! lol

I get to open up MacRumors for the first time today and all I see are these posts inquiring if people were on Flight 84… First thought was, but there was nothing on the BBC about a plane disaster.

Isn't there an App for this? If not there should be one so you can all go and trace your little plane as it blip-blips across the screen. And when it arrives, what then? Gather around a virtual campfire and sing Kumbayaa?

Seems some people have way too much time on their hands. :p

It's HERE!!

At 9:06 AM, my mailbox dude signed for it! I won't get to pick it up for like two or three hours (I'm literally 5 minutes away but I have some interviews I need to do for work and realistically, even picking up the iMac will be too big of a distraction -- and you know, I gotsta pay the bills), but IT IS HERE!

Congrats to all new owners and soon-to-be-owners.

We have children! Humongous 27" across children!

I have received many items before the delivery date from FedEx and many from Apple. In fact I have a FedEx account and many of my shipments are delivered ahead of schedule.

Most of the people on this thread originally had a Friday delivery date but due to a delay in China they changed it to Monday. However, the units are now positioned to allow for overnight delivery and I am sure many will be delivered tomorrow and in line with the original date of 11/13.

I don't think Apple allows for pickup until at least one delivery attempt.

I am very happy to say that I was wrong. It was delivered today at 9:30.

:D

"hyper-anticipation"... doens't begin to cover this thread and the other monster of 3000+ responses. This thread is about true survival and the tedious work of finding our flight with 255 iMac's on board. First a delay in Shanghai that took hours to find and then the almost impossible job of finding out if that plane that just left was "our" plane. The story is a gripping one about people who care, people who are Apple fans, prople who know that FedEx will do the right thing.... but most of all people who are NUTS....:D

It really is. It makes me wish I still wrote for TUAW, because this would make an amazing editorial about what separates Apple fans (er, crazies) from other mega gadget fans. I mean seriously, I've been buying Apple stuff for years -- I'm a pretty fanatical Apple user -- but I've never done a BTO thing so this was my first FedEx stalking.

It was not only fun -- it was also proof of how I would never, ever find a community of computer users who would do this for any other brand. Cars? Yes. Audio equipment? Possibly. Computers? No.

God we all need therapy. I say we start doing group sessions over iChat!

:D Well, I guess here's to the crazy ones.

LOL! Off to appointments-but at least I (we) have all weekend to set our new iMacs! This has been a really fun experience, albeit a bit Mac-whacky! Oh well, what do you expect?! We're Macaholics!

Agree with all... Amazing when you see that all the people who took part in this fantastic event were from all parts of the US. Even more intriguing is the fact that the box that the FedEx driver just left on my porch was part of a container of 255 iMacs that were in China, Korea, and Alaska yesterday and are now scattered over the US.

As of 7:16AM local time my iMac is at the FedEx facility in San Fran (where I live), but it still says Monday delivery. Seems like I should get it today
