The only App I really regret buying is the Battle of Waterloo. I bought it on what amounted to a dare, and was terribly disappointed, there could have been so much more.

None, I don't have any. I tried a few free ones (Aurora Feint, TripAdvisor, etc) and they locked up my phone, so I have stayed away since then. I don't want to constantly have to tinker with my phone to keep it running right.

I have to say, Super Monkey Ball doesn't deserve quite so much hate. I think it's entirely a misperception that the control is "bad"; it's just that the game is hard and has a really weird difficulty curve. Basically you can get through the first few levels without learning how to control the monkey properly and they seem easy, and then you're suddenly required to exercise more control and it seems impossible.

Sega has been around for a long time and most gamers wouldn't be surprised that a Sega game would be targeted more to people who play games regularly (and thus aren't put off by a difficult title). I assure you that there are plenty of Sega fans who would consider this game too easy. Though more save points are most definitely needed.

Is Enigmo really that bad? Never played it but it looks interesting, can anyone elaborate on why it is such a poor app?

For me I really havent purchased much.

Chopper, IMO has a TON of potential, really good graphics and simple gameplay but I find that unless I am sitting down on a couch or something it is impossible to control/view the screen as the angle must be just so.

MotionX Poker is one that I love. Very simply gameplay, nice visuals, and the unlockables are a nice bonus.

I am very tempted to try Monkey Ball as it is one of my favorite games of all tie on the GameCube but to me the use of the accelerometer is not appropriate for a handled game that relies so much on precise movements. Additionally, I never really found Monkey Ball great playing alone; multiplayer is where it shines.

I used to regret buying cro-mag but got the hang of it at a B&N release party. I do however regret buying Super Monkey Ball. It was fun for a couple of levels, then I got to a level that is impossible. (The level in question being the one that is a zig zag with bumpers on the intial platform and disappear for the rest of the level. Its damn impossible to control!)

It would be okay if there was a way to save the game at that point. It's frustrating having to go back to the beginning all the time. It has a steep learning curve after the first couple of levels (at least for me.)

I like all the other apps I've downloaded/purchased. The only two purchased that were higher than .99 are SMB and Cro-Mag. I'm not sure Cro-Mag is worth the 9.99 pricetag I paid, but I enjoy it.

I wouldn't take Enigmo, or other game apps on so many regret lists as being a bad game or bad application quality. Could be just personal tastes, or not having the time for involved games. Despite it being good, you might regret it. I did hear people losing their progress with Enigmo updates, and that could kill the will to play I guess.

I also find it strange that smaller developers have updated their games numerous times now with bug fixes, new features, calibration options, etc.

Yet the largest developer with one of the most profitable games, Super Monkey Ball, hasn't had one gosh darn update. And from users, it desperately needs it.

I want to buy SMB, but not until calibration is added or a save at any time option. I want to be able to launch the app and quickly attempt a single challenge and after hopefully completing it, put it down. I don't want to have to devote time to finish a whole stage of challenges just so I don't lose where I am. Honestly, didn't think they a game on a phone would need to work a quick short bursts of gameplay, not 20+ minutes.

That's exactly right.

Enigmo is a really cool app, but I'm not finding myself playing it over and over. I think I've played it twice since I got it. I do wish the tools were clearer, though. Meaning, I can't tell what each one does without a LOT of trial and error, which I don't like.

Crash Bandicoot is fine, but it's just not my cup of tea. I should have known that I wouldn't really like it, since I'm not one for racing games in general.

I had a moment of weakness where I listened to everyone else instead of acknowleging that I lean toward more of the puzzle and strategy games. Aurora Feint, Trism, Solitaire, Tap Tap Revenge, and Fire Words are the ones I play almost exclusively.

Yeah, I'm having similar issues with games on the 360 and PS3. Being older, I find I've got more important things to do, so really great games I've bought have hardly been touched because I never sit down to play knowing I'd have to devote an hour or two to make it worth while.

Same goes especially with the iPhone, where puzzle games seem to work best that are quick and addicting when you have time to spare. Playing a racing game or something more involved I find it hard to even open the app due to the mindset of the time I'd have to devote.

Sort of like how you can buy a $5 DVD from a bin, never watch it, but when it suddenly airs on tv you can sit down and take the time. I assume this happens because with tv you have no commitment, unlike how you do when you take the action to insert a DVD.

Not saying a puzzle game can't eat up an hour, but you know you can go into it and for just a minute, but sometimes once you are there, you can't put it down, like watching a movie on tv.

I am happy I got Box Office before it was pulled. It is one of the best apps I have on the phone.
I would have to agree with that, I just wish that Apple would just tell the developer why they pulled his app, it has been gone for weeks and all we have is speculation as to why it was removed.

Regrets:

I kind of regret Enigmo. I just never found it to be much fun. I much prefer Dizzy Bee and Motion X poker both of which are much cheaper

Bookshelf and Day Bank are my 2 other regrets. Day Bank might come around with some updates and Bookshelf is just way too expensive when Ereader is free.

Love Things, Ixpensit, Dizzy Bee, Motion X Poker, FileMagnet (after the update enabled landscape), & shopper.

How did you get your money back? What did you say? I'd love to get my money back for cro-mag and monkeyball. I know it's only 20 dollars, but still, it's a waste if I don't enjoy what I purchased. Thanks in advance! :)

After like a week of trying to enjoy those apps, I went to iTunes, reported a problem with each purchase, and said I accidentally purchased this app and would appreciate it if I got my money back. They are strict on not refunding your money but they will give you a one-time exception. Use it wisely, I guess.

I guess I do have an addition to my list. SMB, was by far the second worse App I bought, all it really did for me was drive me crazy, but show me the potential. I played it for 2 days after the 2.0 release and not a moment since. And if you think that level 7 is bad, you didn't see 8 or 9

So can I return both, or just one? Just wondering. Also, where in iTunes can I report the purchases?

Trism - too much thinking, not enough action.
iMangi - nice game, but it's way too hard.

I don't get all this hate about Monkey Ball - I'm on space case hard mode (last stage) and have enjoyed the game very much. Most don't give it a chance past Monkey Island. It's all about control - moving the touch slightly, not loads then returning to near still position. Once you beat Monkey Island you've got it.

I am at the same level that you are at (Space Case: Hard), but agree with the others that it was definitely a waste of money. It is far too complicated for a mobile game, and there should have been an option to adjust the sensitivity of the movements. For a mobile game, it should be something that I can play in a car, on a train, bus or anything while I am moving. It should not require absolute complete concentration to the game. And frankly, for what it gives it is too far overpriced.

Yes, if and when the sensitivity can be adjusted, this game will be awesome. Till then, it won't get used.

Ummm...it's too difficult to control and is terrible for pick up and play. If you want to sit down and play for a half hour to beat a stage and don't mind the crappy controls, then sure, it's a beautiful game. Looks great, sounds great, well put together, except for the controls
