Super Monkey Ball. That's the only application I regret purchasing. While $10 isn't that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things, it was completely wasted on this game. I honestly can't for the life of me figure out how to control the game, and after a few hours of playing it, I gave up and haven't touched it since. I hope they release an update to make it easier to control.

What's interesting is that it seems (after skimming through the responses here, at least) that half the people love it and half the people hate it. I wonder where the disconnect lies.

regret:
super monkey ball - what ticks me off most is that in each world you can't stop and save at a level...i can't consistently sit down and play for that long always and so all my accomplishments in the game go to waste and that bothers me. Thats why i prefer motionx and trism

also regret texas hold'em, not practical enough with all the animations, and the crazy betting before even the flop comes out.

apps i love and use:
trism
enigmo
motionx
facebook
aim
shazaam
jawbreaker
pandora
ypmobile
boxoffice
remote

You do know you can just use landscape mode right? That gets rid of the tedious animations...

Also, why's everyone hating on Monkey Ball? I understand that it's a steep learning curve at first, but once you find the center point and learn to make small adjustments to move, you get used to it! I'm on the last world now, and have to say it was well worth $10!

It's too steep a learning curve for a mobile game. People when they pick up their cell phones want to just be able to pick up a game, play it for 5 or 10 minutes when they are in line somewhere, or on a plane, or bus, or something like that. They don't want to have to devote half an hour to play out a whole level, or have to learn a complicated new control scheme. If something like this with a control scheme as complicated was implemented on say, the Wii, then sure people would accept it better because it's on what most people see as a gaming system where they have to sit down and play with it for a bit, but the iPhone isn't a gaming system to most people, yet. It has the potential to be seen as a mobile gaming system, but it isn't quite there yet, until the big studios start establishing themselves, it won't be. Sega tried to be innovative with SMB, and failed, badly

Nah, there's room on the App Store for serious, sit-down games as well as the 5-10 minute diversions. We should expect to see both kinds, and it's silly to call a game a failure just because it demands more than 10 minutes of your time.

I agree there is room for both, however it has to be done by a big name game producer. Someone with more of a reputation than monkeys in plastic balls ;)

Umm ... why? And BTW, Sega is a well-known game producer, not sure what your point is.

I haven't gotten the hang of SMB yet, but my son has. It's got nice graphics, plenty of levels, and uses the accelerometer well. Worth $10 to me. I would agree that an update to calibrate and adjust the sensitivity of the accelerometer would be nice.

Worst purchases:
Recorder (App is fine, only $2, just not much opportunity to use it yet)

Best purchases:
SMB
Tuner (great to listen to ESPN Radio anywhere I want)
Sportstap

Ummm...yeah, Sega hasn't had an original, quality game idea in years, probably not since they came up with Monkey Ball. They did good work in the past Sonic, etc., but recently, they haven't done much worth paying attention to. When I say big name, I mean really big, EA big. And EA is working on it, we all know that.

I spent $.99 on this piece of trash that only allows you to Look at your screen. And then he dropped the price to FREE. Where's my refund? Oh, don't get one because I was stupid!!!!!

But am I stupid now because I refuse to spend $24.99 on the Full one after what the coder did.

Mocha VNC does fine for me.

LOL, that's really funny. Does no one read the App descriptions before they click the buy app button? :p
