Ah! Sonnerie De Sainte-Geneviève Du Mont De Paris to give it the full monty.

One of my favourite Baroque pieces. Who were you listening to? My personal choice goes to Nikolaus Harnoncourt (on Harmonia Mundi). Has that real uncouth roughness of his earlier performances.
Gorgeous. In fact, I think I'll go and start it up right now. And look out the window at the rain.

"Very Sweet indeed." I remember liking this tune, and whatever song the Bay City Rollers did that was big.

Morricone's sexiest score (for Danger Diabolik). I much prefer this in Italian...so...

Did I ever mention - of course I did, and you responded - that I love spaghetti westerns, and adore the music of Ennio Morricone?

Great choice.

A belated Christmas present from my brother a year or so ago was a ticket (an excellent ticket) to a live performance by Ennio Morricone on a European Tour; wonderful.

What a great gift! I am sure that was wonderful to hear the maestro conduct those classic songs. His spaghetti western scores are seminal and terrific, but I love his other genre film scores even more. He wrote some beautiful and strange scores for Mario Bava (this one), Elio Petri and Dario Argento.

Yes, it was a great gift, and yes, the concert was flawlessly professional and it was wonderful to hear the maestro himself conduct his own orchestra playing his music. Brilliant.

The previous year - very early in the previous year - when I was working abroad in one of the 'mad' countries where I sometimes work, for months or years at a time, - my brother had instructed me to ensure that I had planned to take leave (he gave me almost a year's notice) on a certain date.

Now, as it transpired, although I faithfully followed his instructions, - and was home on the due date - the concert itself was postponed (Morricone had a health scare) and Brother made certain that I would be around for the re-scheduled date - he had been offered a refund otherwise.

Because I am somewhat short of stature, and wear glasses, good seats are a must whenever I attend the theatre, a concert, or even pay a visit to the cinema; Brother thoughtfully paid a decent fortune to get me a superlative seat - actually, it was a superb present, as he knows that I just love Morricone and his music. Anyway, the concert was fantastic, and I loved every minute.

Yes, it was. A brilliant present; he was delighted that I enjoyed it so much.

Well, as he later told me - the tickets had become suddenly available, and there was a limited window in which to buy them; so, - fingers crossed - he bought one, - having insisted on buying the best available to him - and issued the instruction to me subsequently; "make sure you're back here by the day before this date, get your leave request in now if you have to" (for eleven months time). So, I did.

He hadn't told me it was Morricone, but I googled the city and what concerts and tours were planned ........and got an answer which left me grinning.

Even though it was postponed, it was brilliant.

I told him I'd happily go again - irrespective of cost; anyone who knows me would know that the idea of gifting me a ticket (a good ticket) for a Morricone concert is a sure fire winner.

Well, it was kind of funny to be told early in the year - on a January day - "I've got your Christmas present already, it's a concert, and you'll like it, so be back by this date ".....the original date in question was mid December, as I recall.

As I explained above, the concert was actually postponed, because Morricone fell ill, so I finally got to attend it well over a year after the ticket had been bought.

Sorry/not sorry. Had to be done. ;)
