"Space Oddity", written by, of course, (and usually, when I listen to it, sung by) David Bowie, but sung, on this occasion, by Commander Chris Hadfield in an amazing and spell-binding interpretation, on board the ISS. Absolutely incredible.
This (Perfume)
that was good! i was having YMO - 'Rydeen' flashbacks... yay for getting old!
Loves me some Reverend Horton Heat. 'Bales of Cocaine' is a favourite - cracks me up!monday, having a hard time getting going. coffee and rockabilly usually helps. couple of my favorites that i'll end up singing all day now that i've watched...
dude puts on a crazy good live show, and also does a killer cover of 'Folosom Prision Blues' if you're a Cash fan. cheers.
Perfume (and more specifically Yasutaka Nakata, their producer) are seen in Japan as heading the re-emergence of electropop, following in the footsteps of YMO. Perfume are awesome!

Well I have no idea what she is saying but that is a pretty good video!
thanks, and thanks again! just looked up Nakata, and now waist deep in 'Capsule' tracks and still looking for other 'Perfume' to add to the pile. started playing the first one you linked, and within the first 3 seconds had YMO pop into my mind. old is new again and all that. couldn't even take a SWAG on how many YMO cassettes i wore out back in the day -- big pile for sure.
LOL'Bales' is also one of my favorites, just didn't list it because i was showing my kids the other two when i linked. still in the protect and preserve phase... they can learn about real life later. they ran around all after noon yelling 'baby, baby, baby, baby'. life is good.
edit: return the favor, or die trying. if you like Horton, you'd also like 'Southern Culture on the Skids' if you haven't found them yet. twang + funny = awesome. recommend 'banana puddin' and 'camel walk' as good starting points.
...Nakata
Jethro Tull: "Reasons For Waiting." A lovely song...
...an absolute classic from the 1970s - called 'Long Lankin'
... Martin Simpson's 'The Bramble Briar'
damn. i was going to let this go. can't. 3rd thank you in a row. you win!
loved both of the live links,
very lovely. epic album, first time Barre appeared, first time Ian was calling the shots, first time a mandolin was used on a rock album. Tull/Ian have been pushing the edges for a really long time now... from the same album (stand up) also a huge fan of #3 'Bouree'. transcribed the guitar/bass part to piano, and taught the flute part (mostly) to my younger sister, and we had a friend play a 3 piece trap set for rhythm. we won a bunch of talent shows as kids with that bit. thanks for the good memory.
double damn. ok you two, i swear i'm done for awhile. used up all the letters on my keyboard, and going to totally go over my bandwidth cap for the month after today and all the downloads and youtube.
love both of those. have both of those. thought i'd add another that the infamous MR search thingy said hadn't been mentioned yet. 'When I Go'.
Just started listening to The Roots really like this song.
The truly gifted and tragically haunting Israel Kamakawiwo'ole singing his beautiful song "Hawai'i 78".
