Has anyone heard, seen, played, listened to the new Madness release?
Yes, of course. "Can't touch us now" is on par with their more recent work "Oui Oui ..." and "Norton Folgate".

No instant classics but definitely good stuff. "Grandslam" and "Another Version of Me" seem to get the most play from me.

I also need to pick up the latest from Pink Martini.

Ah, great, thanks: It got pretty good reviews, and I have long loved both Madness (and yes, Pink Martini).

Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (40th Anniversary Celebration)" caught my eye on Amazon Music. Seems like a good soundtrack for the morning's work.

Has been a while since I listened to that album as a whole. And yes this is a 1974/2014 release.

Still, lots of great stuff on this album.

Revisiting the Sixties: Heard a few tracks from the wonderful White Album ("While My Guitar Gently Weeps" is still fantastic), earlier today while I was having coffee in an excellent coffee shop; just now, I am listening to a few from The Move, "Goodbye Blackberry Way", and "Flowers In The Rain", and some more from the Psychedelic Vaults shall follow in due course.

Well, a few more from the Psychedelic Vaults that date from the Sixties: The haunting (and musically elegant) Simon Dupree & The Big Sound "Kites", and "Castle In The Sky", followed by "Hey Bulldog" (The Gods), "No Milk Today" (Herman's Hermits), "10,000 Years Behind My Mind" (Focus 3), "Mr Armageddon" (The Locomotive), "Bus Stop" (The Hollies), "World Spinning Sadly" (Parking Lot), "Tin Soldier" (Small Faces), and "For Your Love" (The Yardbirds).

Usually jazz night on Fridays for me, but a switch to classical tonight:

Dmitri Shostakovitch, Symphony 5 (and other works). Andris Nelson conducting Boston Symphony Orchestra (Deutsche Grammophon May 2016). These guys knocked this one out of the park for me. BSO is so meticulous here in "all the little things" that lend a spacious architecture its dimensions in performance.
