Listening to The Smithereens. Pat DiNizio, their lead singer died yesterday. I'll certainly miss him, I was a fan.

Trying to get hyped up tonight for Star Wars 8 in IMAX 3D. Watching it at Twin Pines Mall now known as Puente Hills. Will have my headphones on the whole time while in line. Don't want to hear ANY spoilers.

Saw it last night! I'll not post any spoilers. I hadn't even watched the teaser trailer.
I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Well right up until....

Friday night is jazz night for me. Tonight's pick, a favorite album that I wore out two LP copies of before finally getting a CD and later ripping it so I can play it any time from my iPhone... Bill Evans Trio in the 1961 live recording, Sunday at the Village Vanguard. That album and Waltz for Debby, also recorded on that same date at the Vanguard, were the last ones they made with the accomplished bassist Scott La Faro; he died in a car accident in upstate NY ten days later.

Thanks for sharing - sounds brilliant.

Sorry for your loss, - she sounds as though she was a wonderful person - but your post is a moving reminder of what an inspiration - a truly life-affirming and life-changing inspiration - a really good teacher and educator can be to those with whom he or she come in contact, be they colleagues or students.

And a cancer survivor! Dammit to hell. Such a wonderful woman.
