Italian popular classics: Funiculi, Funicula, O Sole Mio, Santa Lucia, among many others. My iPod and playlists (which went down well with the Italian chef for tonight who sang along happily).

We ate a dinner tonight of Italian spaghetti (spaghetti all puttanesca) personally prepared by an Italian colleague - mouth-watering - for which I supplied Italian red and white wine - and a British colleague offered port (aged tawny) and blue cheese for afters. Divine.....

Was introduced to a new version of Stairway to Heaven today. It's Heart performing at the Kennedy Center honours for Led Zeppelin. A truly marvelous rendition of the song. And Bonham's son was on drums.

Alive and Kicking and Don't you forgot about me would be two other favourites.

Yes, agreed: Always loved "Don't You Forget About Me" - that was what prompted me to buy some of their albums at the time. And I also liked "Alive and Kicking".

Now, some smooth, classy, stuff: The Buena Vista Social Club - they are ageless, brilliant and timeless.

I am? Forgetful, or forgetting? No, not so.

Anyway, the song dates from the mid 80s, and was part of the soundtrack of the movie "The Breakfast Club" and I have always liked it.

aahhh..

it was a joke?

Don't you forget about me.... and then I acted like I'd forgotten you...

aaahhh ha ha ha ha....eehhh...

Sorry.......I thought it was some sort of punning thing, but, no, didn't get it. Ah, well.

Still with The Buena Vista Social Club, music one never tires of.

I once had the extraordinary privilege of hearing them play live.

The breakfast club. A most excellent movie!

Yeah, I must say that I liked it myself.

Actually, I remember watching it on TV with my mother and brother a number of years ago, and we all enjoyed it.

Now, I am listening to Roxy Music's album of homage to the jazz age, called, appropriately enough "The Jazz Age", a lovely album, elegant, easy and classy.
