Snow Patrol. It seamed appropriate!

The excellent Up to now album. Worth a listen.

Next thing you know, you'll be up to Blizzard of Oz! :p

For me today, it's been a windy and rainy day here, so funnily enough I've drifted from some synth/new wave to early 80s ladies.

So far, it's been in this order:

The Cars - Drive, Magic, You Might Think, Hello Again
Kim Carnes - Bette Davis' Eyes
Laura Branigan - Gloria, Self Control
Christine McVie - Hold on Me
Sheena Easton - Morning Train, Strut, Solitaire
Fleetwood Mac - Sara

After that, just letting youtube play at random. Right now, I'm at Joe Jackson - Steppin' Out.

BL.

Finally found it! Had heard this song a few times in movies/tv shows, but never got around to finding it.

Frankie Valli - Oh What a Night

The Cars - Drive, Magic, You Might Think, Hello Again

That was perfect as prelude to digging my car out of the drifts now that my driveways connect to a road that's probably been plowed all the way into town... thanks. Been awhile since I listened to them, those tracks are among those in some playlists on a 2nd gen iPod nano that still gets a workout in my car sometimes.

Some Italian prog rock that hails from the 1970s this afternoon: Banco del Mutuo Soccorso or BMS. This is a video of a live performance of their Canto Nomade per un Prigioniero Politico (The Wandering Song of a Political Prisoner).

The song was inspired by events following the 11th September 1973 coup that overthrew the freely elected Allende government in Chile. It was featured on their album Io Sono Nato Libero (I was born free). I believe this performance is from a concert in 2011 but am not sure. Their lead singer and lyricist, Francesco di Giacomo, passed away in 2014.

"Prisoner for an idea, my idea... why?"

"You sentence me for your convenience, but already my ideas assault you."

"I was born free."

@LizKat (and perhaps @mobilehaathi, too) introduced me to Banco del Mutuo Soccorso some time ago, so a thank you is clearly in order.

Following a remark from @Apple fanboy in another thread, I have listened to the stirring theme music (by Vangelis) from Chariots of Fire.

Their music from Bladerunner to me is still one of my favorites.
