I've been through many music phases in my life, but the Boss has always been my favorite. :)

The Arctic Monkeys will play at Boston's TD Garden tomorrow night, doubtless featuring their latest album, Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino. I won't be there except in spirit so I'm warming up their act tonight :D but not with that latest effort, which Paste magazine IDs as "a left turn if there ever was one" (although their review is not actually unkind and I don't dislike the album). But I'm stuck back in a moment in 2006 when I first heard these cheeky guys and figured they were maybe just a couple of bus passes short of becoming a decent garage band. They grew on me, fast. I have always liked the energy of I Bet You Look Good on the Dance Floor, back then and later on too. Here is the earlier official video, and a live 2018 performance.

Ah, terrific choice; I have that CD (and it is now on my iPod and A&K device as well).
one must listen to side A candy-o IN ORDER, well from "all i can do" even to "night spots"
in 2013 i had shuffle on the changed the song order an that ruined my year.
the cars album they did last decade "move like this" is very good!

"Per Tropo Fede" - from the album Alla Festa Leggiadra by Micrologus.

I heard this group play a live concert last year (of Italian medieval and Renaissance music in a medieval church dating to 1320).

They were brilliant; they are Italian and play Italian medieval, Renaissance and Baroque music on (historically authentic, impeccably researched) reproduction instruments.

Azure Ray's Burn and Shiver, the track A Thousand Years. Haven't listend to this in a long time, couldn't resist looking it up after I referenced it elsewhere on the boards here

I'm saving all I'm not giving
But it's overflowing, evaporating in the air
As I'm walking, I know I'm not breathing only air
It's filled with words once spoken by people everywhere
And i can hear all the whispers that have lived a thousand years
It just took me being open for them to reach my eager ears
Now they've reached my eager ears and I hope I'll be ready
When my light, when my life divides.

Earlier tonight: Antigone - Op 55 MWV M12 / Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy (complete)

The original Antigone is a play written in about 441 BCE by the ancient Greek tragedian Sophocles. As is typical of Greek tragedies, the characters, however courageous or craven they may be, are all foredoomed by the eventual intersections of their own flaws, and are not rescued by the gods...

This Antigone is a suite of incidental music written in 1841 by Felix Mendelssohn, to accompany the play as staged by Ludwig Tieck. The text is based on Johann Jakob Christian Donner's German translation of the text, with additional assistance from August Böckh. Mendelssohn liked this work of his enough that an excerpt from it was played at his funeral.

I was given a copy of the full score once by a friend. I don't know if there are libretti with translation to English, so I muddle along with the score and a copy of the play in English; they are certainly not in sync so I focus on the music, already familiar with the play. I like this setting of the work better than what it's about, that's for sure... the play itself is so dark and so I only listen to the work in the heights of summer when the light lasts into the evening. :)

  5. A Heart in New York - Art Garfunkel
  6. New York Minute - Eagles
