Spending some time on Youtube listening to cuts from the new Eric Church album, "Desperate Man". This is going to be another winner for him. Everything I've heard so far from this album is just really solid and well done. Definitely going to be adding this CD to my collection. Church just continues to impress me.

Dude returned a dozen CDs tonight that I lent out years ago... almost never happens!

Anyway... Oasis while they were on their early roll... the track is Cast No Shadow, from 1995 album (What's the Story) Morning Glory?

I never loan out physical copies of my music. Nope. No way. I like mine! That said, back in the early 80's people kept stealing my copies of Jefferson Starship's "Freedom At Point Zero" album from my car. I don't know how many copies I had to replace. They never stole any others, just that one.

Was a lovely and unexpected surprise.

That (someone returning borrowed music or books) hardly ever happens.

I keep replacing cherished books and CDs that I have given away temporarily or permanently.

These days, I'll more often make copies of CDs and stuff I like and give that to someone as a gift, rather than giving them the original.

Before digital music I had my entire CD collection stolen. That’s what you get for living in Gateshead. About 5 break ins in 18 months. I had no insurance or money back then, so nothing ever got replaced.

Ouch.
When I was a teenager I was in a band, and all of the equipment was stored in my parent's basement. Someone (we suspect one of the former band members) broke in the house and took almost everything.
I couldn't believe it happened. Felt violated.

Sure it wasn’t the neighbors? What sort of stuff did you play?

Yah I had long since ripped them all to iTunes, and they were rock or pop so it didn't much matter to me since I don't have a CD player in my old car, all I use out there is an old iPod hooked up to an FM transmitter, and a few really old tapes that somehow survive in the glovebox through all those changes of season. I never lend out operas, classical or jazz CDs though... I like putting those in the CD player in my rack system and waking up the owls out back once in awhile.

Ouch.

A bunch of kin and I came back from someone's birthday party one time when I was staying at the rural home of one of my brothers. As we advanced towards the house my bro suddenly waved us off and said "stay here, stay here,,, why are the dogs barking out back? We left them in the sun room... just stay here a minute" ... he popped around back to see the two dogs chasing a couple guys over a far fence. After going in the (open, and lock-busted) back door he eventually came out front and welcomed us into the living room. One big speaker was on the floor, turned sideways. The amplifier was half into a pillowcase next to it. And... three feet away was the back pocket and part of the upper leg of a pair of blue jeans. Talk about insurance policies.

Probably not the neighbors, with one possible exception, as he broke in on another occasion and took a knife belonging to my older brother. I just don’t see him carting all that band equipment away.

We played old rock ‘n roll, mostly.

Of course it wasn’t very old, back then. ;)

Jazz trumpeter David McWilliams - Nighthawks (2010).

album art David McWilliams Nighthawk.jpg

Nice old school jazz by a young trumpeter leading a quintet. Their day jobs may have got the better of them... I keep waiting for news of another album release, not much news of them except locally in Michigan back in 2013.

David McWilliams -- Trumpet
Brandon Tesh -- Tenor Sax
Mike Malis -- Piano
Rob Bickley -- Bass
Ryan Ptasnik -- Drums

Here is the track Suzaku's Blues from that album.

The Flight of the Conchords - Carol Brown

I really like this tune. I dont know what genre of music it is, but would like to hear more tunes like it.... especially at this time of year.
