yeah. just me having fun and obviously the other three would have had more and better stuff to add.

The thing that stood out to me after doing this, again i realize i'm not the only who has made up something like this, is that it most likely would have been another double , or even a triple lp.

again, i went by the dates i found on wikipedia discography listing. so all the tunes i chose showed 1973 a publishing date.

A lovely selection, one which brings back memories; I actually remember several (if not almost all) of those tracks. "Red Rose Speedway" - I also remember my brother and I playing that particular album sometime in the………1970s……)

"Band On The Run" is a lot better better known, (and had a wonderful album cover, if I recall correctly), but there were some fine tracks on "Red Rose Speedway", too.

My problem with Paul McCartney's music was his awful tendency to drift into schmaltz (well, it worked, and more to the point, it sold awfully well). When he was with The Beatles', this tendency was curbed, not least by the acid tongue of John Lennon. However, and this is the real pity of it, when Paul McCartney curbed his own unfortunate tendencies towards the production of schmaltz, he was a wonderful writer of seriously good melodies…..

Some of us come from - or work in - countries with rather slow connection speeds. Why not tell us who the group are and what the title of the song is, so that we can determine whether or not to click on the link?

I'm sorry. The song is "Early Morning Rain" As sung by Peter Paul and Mary in 1966.

Band On The Run is a seriously fun song to listen to. One of my favorites. It was on a mixed tape I had when I was younger, and boy does that bring back memories.

I agree that "Band On the Run" is a terrific song; from the time it came out first, I always liked it a lot.

There is another song on that album called Let Me Roll It which is McCartney sort of imitating Lennons "echo voice" which he used in his early solo albums. I think it is a great song with a great riff too.

I know exactly what you are talking about.

I'm figuring out that I can't code well while listening to some types of music (web site design part time/hobby). So I've forgone most of my "normal" music in lieu of other things. I've discovered that I really enjoy listening to movie themes and scores, and can work quite well while listening to them. Maybe it's like classical for the next generation? :D

A couple of my favorites - the Jurassic Park theme and "Honor" (main title from Pacific)

But my top two from today are probably
Shooting Star from "Stardust" (I've never seen it)

A rather lovely and underrated They Might Be Giants song, Mink Car:

Hehe, I do like some of They Might Be Giants work, but there are some songs that I simply cannot listen to. "Birdhouse in Your Soul" just annoys me whenever I listen to it...

Very cool….

Suffragette City, by David Bowie :)

Also, exceedingly cool…..

Me, I'm taking a small, stroll through a few pieces of a more antique vintage…..tonight, there were a few tracks from Edith Piaf, which included the classic and awesome songs: "La Vie En Rose", and "Non, Je Ne Regrette De Rien…"

Skepticalscribe, you seem to be all over these threads, and you seem very knowledgeable about many of these topics. I'm just curious, where are you in the world? What do you do for a living?

Masterful.

Lovely album cover; indeed, it makes me want to take a listen to the music contained within….

Oh, I have been on these threads for quite a few years now, sometimes, actively participating, sometimes, disappearing for weeks, or months, at a time, usually due to work constraints.

In any case, I love music and have very eclectic tastes; in short, with the exception of heavy metal, hip hop and rap, I think I can say that I like most other forms of music, some of them quite a lot.

Re profession, I used to be an academic, and darkened classroom doors, and graced lecture halls for the best part of twenty years, teaching history and politics to young (and what I - in vain - hoped were impressionable and malleable) minds.
