One of my all time favorites: Booker T and the MG's - Melting Pot

I like Booker T and the MG's (well, I like 'Green Onions'); that is a lovely track, thank you very much for posting it.

Am I the only reggae and ska fan round these parts?

YouTube: video

No, I quite reggae and ska, too, and have quite a number of UB40s stuff, as well as The Specials and a number of other 80s bands..

I've been listening to Daft Punk's new album Random Access Memories a lot this week. I love every track on it too.

Second that. It's amazing. Every Daft Punk album has a different style with it. I was hoping to hear more of the Synth sounds heard from the Tron Legacy sountrack but the album still blew me away.

I like all their albums too. However, I wasn't impressed with the Tron: Legacy soundtrack. I definitely liked the Derezzed track and wished the rest of them were more like it.

But the new album is totally awesome from track #1 to the last one.

....

The world has never been the same after the 12" remixes. Let's give it up to the 80's!

No, it hasn't, I agree. I remember the thrill of unwrapping (an old) 12" singles - (what some saw as works of art, the kind that couldn't be released under the tyranny of playlists on radio stations, but what others viewed as a self indulgent attempt to milk fans, or aficionados, of their hard earned cash in order to buy a lengthier version of a track they most likely already had) when first released. You are right. The world has never been the same since. (in terms of storage, my 12" had their own space in the racks, between the 45s and the 33s......)

Great album; a really excellent album. Lovely cover, and some wonderful tracks.

Wow, searched for this song for more than two years and just found it...thx to the internet. Yay!

Well, actually it was this edit, but no youtube version available.

Totally lost in Turkish disco music from 70/80s at the moment. Can't understand a thing but it's so beautiful, have to book a flight to Istanbul asap...

Currently streaming Black Sabbath's reunion album 13 on itunes - due out soon and not bad for fans of the old band.

If you are going through a Turkish music phase at the moment, I can recommend a very good group called Café Anatolia - I picked up several of their CDs on various trips through Istanbul airport in recent years. They are a sort of cross between easy listening and (modern) Turkish music, and some of their tunes are really excellent.

As I'm writing this, I'm listening to a lovely track of theirs called 'Love Secret' from an album named 'New Spring', followed by their track 'The Violent [Coloured Mountains]' (they may have meant to use the word 'violet' instead, but the word 'violent' is what is written on the album track titles), from their album 'Café Anatolia'. Anyway, it is a lovely piece of music, as is 'The Waltz Of the Butterfly' by the same group from the same album.
