Enjoyed watching this performance of Telemann's Concerto for Two Flutes in A minor:

I haven't seen much baroque music performed live, even though I listen to it; I would like to see more. :)
I performed the piano part for his flute sonata last year, it was tons of fun!

Yes, you do need to see more! Does your university have a chamber orchestra? If so, I'm sure they do this kind of stuff! I'm sure (if it exists at your place, of course) that they'd also collaborate with the choir on stuff, too. That's how it works here, at least. Plus, going to concerts (at least for me) is a relief from a hectic schedule!

If anyone uses Spotify and wants my Bach playlist, here you go!! Currently only have his choral works on it, though I'll certainly add to it. If you don't use Spotify, you can still view the playlist and look up each ensemble if you want. Most, if not all of this is in my local library, but I created it to share with others.

I don't use Spotify, but will always be interested in listening to Bach and love learning recommendations for pieces that I have yet to hear.

"Classic Meets Cuba" is an interesting series of albums with Latin twists on classical pieces. Can't say I like all of them (I think many are wayyyy overdone), but I've found a lot that I do like! So definitely worth a listen!

I am a sucker for great duets. Heard this one (The Pearl Fishers' Duet: Au Fond Du Temple Saint) for the first time via Tidal Discovery. Naxos release with the Slovak Radio Symphony. Closest I could find on You tube was:

Another one I've loved for a long time is
Delibes: The Flower Duet (From "Lakmé")

A few songs and other pieces of music from the various soundtracks of the TV series Miami Vice (that pastel wardrobe, the searing sunshine balanced by the moody night shots, some amazing cars, intelligent and complex plots, and some wonderful music).....

Smuggler's Blues - Glenn Frey

In The Air Tonight - Phil Collins

In Dulce Decorum - The Damned

Listening to some excellent bluegrass selections from my local music library. MAN OH MAN, IS IT GOOD!! Lucky to have all this music as mp3s. All genuine, by the way. From my own/parents' CD/vinyl collection, or selections I've been given by various people—a professor gave me an enormous folder of jazz last year.

Anyway, I LOVE good bluegrass!

Anyone else here have a foot in the "Vulfpeck" world? They're an odd collective of extremely talented kids who sometimes perform under the name Vulfpeck, but sometimes under other names, with a subset of the main group and many, many guest artists; and some solo. They do some very hilarious videos at times, and have sold out Madison Square Garden for two weeks straight, yet mainstream just doesn't seem to know about them (or I'm just an old fuddie-duddie who doesn't know where to find new music). They have a lot of videos on EweTube, a few early CDs that are now exorbitantly priced, and most of their new releases are on vinyl only (a charade in which I refuse to play); I'll just post this one for now to give you a taste.

Recently discovered this song, written about Beryl Bainbridge, the novelist. Love the guitar:

I love this!! Thanks for posting it! G minor is an interesting pick for a key (of course a lot of rock songs have been written in the relative major, B flat, but not many in the relative minor key as is done here). You listened to any Dire Straits? That's another band I grew up listening to—I've got most of their albums as vinyls at home. This song very much seems like a Dire Straits spin-off. The beat reminds me a lot of their stuff.

Of course, Mark Knopfler also wrote the soundtrack for "Local Hero," which is also worth a listen!

I'm not too familiar with Dire Straits, though I do know the song "Sultans of Swing", which this song seems to resemble. Knopfler definitely has a "sound". I'll have to look more into his music, because I like what I've heard so far.
