"The Most Unwanted Song." I absolutely love it! Some of the lyrics are absolutely hilarious, but also, the melody and chord progression at the beginning (starting at about 20 seconds in) is SO COOL!! The bass movement with the C7/G with the A flat passing note... AHHHH!!!!!! So no, this song is not unwanted at all!

I haven't seen the film for a long time, but I keep coming back to the soundtrack for Moon, by Clint Mansell...

This may be only of interest to the musicians, but there's a few of them here so I'm posting it.

"Dead Wax" is a video podcast that I'm fascinated with, founded by Jack Conte (he is also the husband-side of Pomplamoose, and, just as a side gig, CEO of Patreon!) Here they interview Wendy Melvoin, guitarist who joined Prince at the ripe old age of 19 (and, today, she reminds me of... my Mom!). They start out discussing the funk of Earth Wind & Fire, talk a lot about how it was to work with Prince, and also bring up the exact same artists that I held dearest thru my own life (Vulfpeck, Miles, Joni Mitchell, The Meters, Tower of Power, Kool and the Gang). I never got to the proficiency of any of those folks, but they were what I listened to and I guess I was raised right/lucky!
Cool discussion about what makes funk, "funk" (dragging but not pushing around the One), Prince's grueling rehearsals, and the distinction between an Artist and an Entertainer.
I'll be watching this a couple more times.

I've been having a really good day with music so far! First class, bright and early this morning, I heard this:

Then I had a non-music class so nothing there.

Then the third class I heard this:

Then just a few minutes ago, in my fourth (and last) class of the day, I heard this:

And the day's not even done, cause I have choir and jazz combo rehearsals tonight, probably with even more good stuff played! (idk about choir rehearsal, but usually we listen to at least one record in combo rehearsals).
