One of my top most favorite artists released a new album late last month.

Can’t say I listen to much hip hop, but this is pretty amazing!

Typing this from my phone so a Spotify link is all I’ve got, but the song is called “Paid in Full: Seven Minutes of Madness”

And don't forget the mighty OFRA HAZA is sampled on that extended mix!

(and another unexpected Coldcut collab)

Some more bangers - thanks especially for the stuff like Lhasa de Sela who I didn't know.

So here is a blast from the past, one of the first videos from YouTube that grabbed me in the mid 2000s which has just been re-uploaded in HD:

Yes a sequence of Col. Kittinger's legendary jump in 1960, the highest freefall until Felix Baumgartner in 2012 (since also broken IIRC) though the clip shows Kittinger actually going for some surfing (not him actually). Dreamy sequence and ethereal music.

Right now I only click on the "Shorts" on EweTube, so I'm not clubbed to death with commercials. But, the line below the Shorts showed a Glen Campbell video playing "Classical Gas", with full orchestra. I clicked on it, and NO commercials! Great performance too, enjoy.

Had a happy evening spending time with Franz Liszt..... Actually I had gone into YT looking for something else, which I found, watched and listened to, and then for some reason I had the urge to listen to one of my favorite Liszt compositions ("Liebestraum", No.3). I have a recording of it on one or two albums in my iTunes Library, but since I was in YT anyway, just thought I'd pull it up there and have a listen. Happily, I stumbled upon a treasure trove: a YT channel with a collection of some of his other recordings, compositions and performances, so spent some time happily chilling out this evening.....

Love Walked In - George Benson. Well, specifically, I'm listening to pianist Micky Tucker's solo on it. One of my favorite jazz solos as of late. Has pretty much everything you could ever want. Double octaves in the beginning of his solo, great bluesy playing in the middle, and nice bebop lines towards the end. Then the last 8 measures of it is perhaps my favorite part (from 6:42-7:00) with the chromatic thing. I've tried to transcribe that particular part numerous times and still can't get it exactly. Anyway, would highly recommend listening to it!

EDIT: Here's a YouTube link:

Currently listening to some Charles Ives. You all should listen to his stuff! Even if you don't like atonal music, you still should. You may come to like it!

Actually, a quick side story - I was completely unfamiliar with (at least consciously) music like this when I was younger. I didn't really discover it until fairly recently. My parents have said that I would listen to anything when I was little. I obviously don't remember well enough, but I honestly don't know. We sure didn't have any Ives in the house. But I get their point. I think recently, I've become aware of totally new stuff, Charles Ives being one. I really do love it all though! I don't think anything is bad. Sure, there are genres I listen to more than others, but I like everything.
