I didn't know this existed until I read this article this morning:

Pretty ferocious playing.

Ahh yes, how apropos these days. Well all the time really.
The Dark Side Of The Moon was one of the very first albums - a vinyl 33rpm album - I bought for myself, I was still at school, this was a few years before university - (prior to that, my brother and I had frequently split the costs of our shared collection), and I still recall the genuinely delighted enthusiasm ("that's really brilliant; you'll love that") of the young man in the record shop when we were discussing my purchase, as I handed over the cash for the LP.

A terrific and ageless album.

I found a CD of "Passion Sources" (from The Last Temptation of Christ) in my music folder. I forgot I had this. Love it!

Really underrated Billy Joel song-

Sorry to rain on your parade, but I'm honestly not a huge fan of Billy Joel. Never have been, really, and I think my dislike was solidified when two music teachers of mine (on two separate occasions) mentioned that he had unceremoniously plagiarized material from Irish folk songs. Whether or not that is actually true, I have no idea. But I just can't take that fact off my mind when I listen to him.

So yes, perhaps surprisingly, there is some music I don't like.

I’m not a big fan of Top 40 songs or artists who have a ®️ appended to their name/band name but there is a lot of music, across all genres and time periods, you’ll have to dislike if “borrowing” from folk music or traditional tunes is a problem….
:)

True that! But like you, I don't particularly like the "top 40" artists, either. So I'm sure that's part of it.

I don’t know if any of that is true, but I couldn’t find anything on Google. Just that he was sued over his song “The River Of Dreams”, in which the lawsuit was eventually dropped.

Keep in mind too, every artist that reaches some form of global success is sued at some point. And most of them are unsuccessful.

As mentioned, I think music plagiarism does happen occasionally, even with the most well-known composers. In the classical related world, I found this example interesting.

During the 1970-80s, His producers forbade him to record original songs as every one sounded like another hit.
Phil Ramone, CBS had a sure bet cash-cow and controlled what he played, wrote and compsed.
I don’t like him ether as he was a sad tool.
Glass house was a bad summer of 1981 i think as a friend had the 8-track playing in his pool all the time!

Odd concert between Elton John and Brandy Carlisle on CBS right now. It didn't sound very good the first half, I left it on while I surfed elsewhere. Then, Elton did a solo piece of Tiny Dancer, the rest of the band took a break and listened, and... Magic. His vocals have aged, but dayam his piano playing has only advanced, damn near fawnky!
Then Brandy did one of her songs, strictly solo on acoustic, and more Magic! This is about the 2/3rds way thru the show, so hopefully it gets better now. Chad whatsizname from the RHCP is on drums, don't recognize the others (I'm sure I'd know their names).

I pretty much learned rock piano, for what I'm worth, from Elton. Had two books of Elton songs and I could play the guitar chords (Am, C, Bbm7, etc) but the fly **** on the staffs I had to count out to figure out the notes, could use my ear for those notes instead.

Finally, quiz question: who's retired more times from their main profession: Elton, Michael Jordan, or Prince? 75 completely-worthless BotchPoints™ riding on this one, folks!
